There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

I think since Sassy's death, now is the time things are looking the most hopeful possible for the subs, all things considered. Instead of 2 territorial coalition to avoid, now it's just one, one that has a vast territory to patrol; instead of having to scavenge and usurp leopard kills, they're now able to hunt on their own and are always in good condition; instead of being completely alone they're consistently hanging out with their father which grants great protection and they had not even had any problems with him stealing their food.
Sure the situation is still very difficult and they have a long way to go but they're getting at an age that some other subadults were able to reach adulthood on their own. It's just a shame they couldn't reach this point with at least 3 of their numbers, now to have a decent chance to rebuild the pride they can't afford to lose their remaining sister.
I agree with a lot of what you said, but by their remaining sister, are you referring to Gingerella? I, like I believe the vast majority of lion fans are as well, am really rooting for these two girls. If they can make it, with such overwhelming odds stacked against them (they did end up on their own at around 18 months old and continue to thrive, something I've not heard of before), this could be one of the greatest survival stories in recent memory. Right along side the wonky eyed young male, who has been on his own from a similar age, all truly amazing stuff!
