They are a formidable combination though.

You can't judge that from this video alone. In this video, they never really went for the kill. All the lion killing I have seen, the male lions immediately go for the kill, without backing out especially when they have numbers on their side.

Plus this was a sub-adult, there is no reason to think they couldn't have killed it if they wanted to. The thing is THEY DIDN'T WANT TO KILL (maybe wanted to scare him a little) it so comparing them to the manginjis and saying they are less "ruthless" is very biased and unfactual. In fact, the manthinhles are quite aggressive themselves.

Brother Fursan, is there any chance that this sub-adult was one of their sons or related to them? From this video, it looked like they didn't want to kill it but scare him a little and send him off from their territory.

The majingis and mapogos were ruthless over territorial battles. Majingis were actively challenging for territory when they "ruthlessly" killed kinky-tail. Same about mr t and kinky-tail killing the 5th majingalane. The mantimahle would behave just as brutal and ruthless when they challenge for territory, be it against the charlestons or anyother coalition in sabi sands.

Brother its happens in territory of Matasaka coalition.this young sub adult is thought to be a son of Mataska males. mantimahle are intruders their. mantimahles went there attacks a sub adult and then returns to their core mantimahle dam area. just like when they came to kirkman and killed sparta sub adult male and returns to mantimahle dam area. Mantimahle males are the sons of old Mazithi Males . Old Mazithis are the Half Brothers of Skybed Males (Fathers of Matimbas) so its means Mantimahles are the Cousins of Matimbas.

@fursan syed I don't think Matimbas are sons of Skybed males.
If I remember correctly there was a confrontation between these coalitions in sabi sands and Matimbas mauled skybed males (1 or 2 of them)
Are there 2 sets of skybed coilations?

From the little info available, or at least that I was able to read, there was the hint that the Matimba males were sons of the Old Skybed males, as Fursan mentioned.

I don't know if it's true or not, but it's a good anecdote.

When it comes to territorial dominance, though, that they're cousins or not won't matter much.

Yes, as previously wrote by Fursan and Tshokwane, the Matimba males and the Skybed males were sired by the 3 old Skybed males, from different pride.

Nicely said. One thing, during the night battle, the 4 manginjis didn't challenge the mlowthis, in fact they ran away from them. They came in, roared, heard 2 roars back and when the noticed 2 lions chasing them, the took off. This is also where they got separated into 2 groups. KT kept chasing but T gave up the chase. That is when KT caught up to the 2 manginjis and rangers said that he (KT) racked the first one so hard, he immediately fell to the ground.

When the other manginjis heard this commotion and noticed that it was only one lion fighting and not 2, they all ganged up on him. My point is that they didn't challenge Mlowathis that night, it was actually the mlowathis that challenged them, even after they had initially won by scaring the manginjis off.

We must all always remember that that we are all, at all times,  just speculating as far as fatherhood and character of animals are concerned. Most fathers like to believe that they are the father of their wive's children - but in the end probably only the mother really knows for sure who the real father is. Would a male lion be able to tell if a female in his pride has an "illegitimate cub" - i highly doubt it. While he is out on patrol anything is possible in an unfenced area. So let us all be tolerant of our different opinions on these things. We should encourage opinions to stimulate interest in lions and their behaviour.

Agreed .
Mr T and Kt attacked Roller coaster males in 2008 and then in 2009 and in January 2010 Roller coasters are thought to be Mr T and Kt fathers.
Mr T and Kinky Tail were also believed to be the half brothers of Golf Course Males.  but they killed one blonde golf course and injured other.
Mr T was the Uncle of his killers Selatis .

The males from the Mantimahle coalition was very busy in 2015 making babies . As you can see on the photographs they don't enjoy it and is actually quite painfull as they usually mate for 2-9 days with the actual mating happening every +-20 minutes for that period..
