The Mantimahle Males are back!

We found the tracks of two males following a buffalo herd near the Sand River, when the timely alarms of a bushbuck alerted us to the presence of one lion down in the reeds.
The others were soon found feeding on a buffalo carcass nearby. (Kirkmans camp)

What a view! One of the impressive Mantimahle males takes a walk past the Sycamore Fig Tree. They killed a buffalo cow in the early hours of yesterday morning and spent all day and night feeding.

This morning produced an exciting sequence of events!

Whilst tracking a male Lion from our eastern boundary, down to the Sand River, it soon become clear that there was a lioness in the area as well.
As we drove into the river, we found a single Mantimahle Male following a Sand River pride lioness!
The pair are potentially mating, and have come to Toulon to do so - hopeful signs that the Sand River Pride may yet make their return to our shores!!

I only recently discovered the mapogo's documentary and my interest lead me here. I've spent the last month researching most of the last 10 years of sabi sands area. I admit I was a fanboy of the mapogo's. I've been searching for a new coalition of lions to admire and follow. I really dig what these 5 mantimahle lions are doing.  They're setting themselves apart from other coalitions in sabi sands/kruger. I've been unable to locate any known names for these individual male lions. I've watched video's and read documents and I've already found my favorite of the group. I'm just hoping someone can help me with their individual names. If not I'll create my own for myself.

First, welcome to the forum. I also ended up here because of the brothers in blood documentary. To answer your question, the mantimahles don't have individual names. Naming lions happens less often in the kruger since there aren't as many lodges in the area who follow these animals on a day to day bases. If they settle in sabi sands though, they probably will get individually named.

Ty, I've been lurking for approximately 1-2 months. Yes, I have noticed they dont follow kruger males as closely as sabi sands. I've also noticed sabi sands lions control for much longer periods of time. I do hope some local Sabi Sands rangers/locals start naming these lions. I feel they deserve some notoriety for their aggressive and size. I sure hope they move into the sabi sands and balance out some of the maji's inbreeding.

From Kirkman's Kamp, 21 Sept. '17:
"The boys are back! Three of the Mantimahle males were found yesterday morning, chasing a kudu but narrowly missing out.
What is exciting is that they seem to be visiting our property more recently. What will their next move be? Let's hope we can continue to view them for the next few days."
