S.Shishangeni and his condition at ~14-15 yrs of age is very rare case for a wild male lion (on top of that he was nomad most of his adult life).
Its always sad to see male lion past his prime, especially one we followed all these years.
I don't know if it's truly sad to see Mohawk this way. He and his half brother are the survivors. I'd love to see them both live on for a couple more years, though it's mostly likely not possible.
I think many of us wanted the fairy tale that the 2 of them got together. S. Avoca, Kruger, and Mohawk would have possibly brought a couple of years of stability to Mohawks old territory.
I was going to say southern Avoca and Mohawk are most likely full blood brothers, same father and same mother, but Southern Avoca is a bit older. Maybe they did not have the same mother; the lionesses would not have more cubs until a year later?
I wonder if Mohawk is a year younger wouldn’t Mohawk possibly be Southern Avoca younger brother? I am sayin wouldn’t Mohawk could be younger brother of Southern Avoca with same parents?
I always wondered if the Southern Avoca brother who had a beautiful mane and was so strong looked similar to blondy? I am not sure, but I always wondered if they had the same parents and they were older a few months or a year. If they were possible from same mother or mothers or different mothers.
Would anybody know if blonde was similar to Southern Avoca, and Southern Avoca with Kruger male lion to Mohawk?
Dark mane looked a bit like Mohawk with a darker mane, bigger.
The plain camp male lion son of southern Avoca looked a bit like Mohawk I thought; I was thinking he must be son of Southern Avoca male with Kruger male.
There is zero chance they both have the same parents. It's also not exactly likely they have either parent the same. They are part of the same coalition mating with the same Pride.
