There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Hey @ruimendes1. I was interested where you found those pictures if you don't mind sharing that info.

Btw. One of my friends contacted Alessandro De Maddalena in an email. He said that he couldn't give a proper estimate because those photos aren't really suitable to produce a proper estimate of this specimen. He said it might be around 5.5 meters.

My friend Ravager and I tried our best to recreate a model of this shark. Of course this is not very accurate but the best we could've had done. We tried to match the size of the shark's dorsal fin seen in the second picture.
We also used 6 feet as a reference to a guy standing next to it. And we got that shark is roughly around 23 feet.

Of course, we later used the average height of the Mexican male to make a comparison. But we settled on a guy being a bit taller than other people on the photo, so we used 5'8 as a more reliable measurement. We got 21.7 ft assuming the guy was 5ft 8 inches tall. We know this might not be accurate but not too far off. Also note that shark's dorsal fin is a bit curved to the side and not in up straight position in which we demonstrated it, so the shark might have been likely larger. Best regards.
