Persian Leopard (Panthera pardus saxicolor)

Here is a Leopard from Bitlis Province, Turkey.

"In  the  present  study,  some  habitat  and location  information  of  a  male  individual  shot  in 2008 in Bitlis Province were recorded."


There was another male spotted by the locals of the region.

"A  single  male individual was  reported  to  be  seen  in  the  region  especiallyduring February and March which are reproduction season. It was estimated that the male individual was seeking for a female one to mate."

Sadly, the Leopard is extremely rare in Turkey. Not to mention, human encroachment threatens the Leopards of this region. Reply
