There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Look at the thickness of the tiger's forelimbs compared to lion.
No wonder tigers are the most powerful cats in the world.

What a tremendous fight ! I'm joking...

Yes, agree with you tiger has the thickest forelimbs among all big cats, for sure they are perhaps, even probably, the most powerful cats on the world. But it is'nt enough to win every fight. Recent news are there to prove it.

This strength question rises up time to time and of course big cat strength thread is for it. I have never seen anything proving, that tiger would have stronger muscles than a lion. And when knowing size overlap, it´s no wonder, that it can be debated. Put there a lion and tiger with equal weights and I couldn´t say which one is stronger overall. And I doubt that anyone else could say it either. One can have some stronger point than another, but overall... both are capable to kill alone very big prey animals. Lions  can be seen often "wrestling" partially with animals weighing 500-1000 kg. So it´s clear, that when lion and tiger fight together, both are kind of light weight to move around for each others. If a lion is over a tiger, it can "throw" lion away and lion can do easily same to the tiger. Neither one can really overpower another just like that, which can be seen in many cases.

It can be, that tigers have a bit stronger forelimbs, but I´ve never seen anything indicating, that they would be stronger overall than lions. Big tiger is for sure stronger than a small lion, but then again a big lion is without a doubt stronger than smaller tiger. This lion is overall quite robust even though it has bad hindlegs. It can be even stronger of these two, but I don´t dare to claim so as I would know it. Too close call these two, imo.

Anyway if there is will to talk about strength, there is that big cat strength thread.
