@Dark Jaguar he's an absolute beast, can you imagine how much he probability weights? It's such a shame we will probably never know but males like him, Edno, Balam, the one I posted yesterday captured by Onçafari, and also this one I posted a few days ago would dramatically increase the average we have in our table for Pantanal weights.

How much do you guess this one weights? He's the most impressive male from Southern Pantanal I have seen

Also Leandro just posted a video discussing Tiago's death. I'm gonna let you post about it in detail since you've been following that jaguar with more details than I have so it's only right, but he gave good details in his video about how they found him etc.

These new southern Pantanal males are easily rivaling the ones from the north, in fact these ones might be even more impressive imo.
I just received confirmation that there will be new captures occuring in the Ecolodge where these pictures were taken in September! Let's hope this male as well as Baleado/Praínha male are captured. More of Baleado:

@"OncaAtrox"

The male I am familiar with is definitely above 130kg.

The male on the cattle carcass I'd give that him 115-125kg.

The male you posted by onçafari I have no idea who he is, Onçafari nowadays don't post the videos regarding jaguars as they used to back in 2014,2015... on their youtube channel anymore, they used to tell about the jaguars dynamics in the area such as Xavier male dethroning Fantasma male, Esperança female teaching her youngs to hunt, Yara female's misterious wound, dynamics of Maned Wolves in southern Pantanal and more...

but nowadays they don't do this anymore and they got many jaguar fights footages last week I watched an interview of Ronaldo Morata and in the background there were tons of footages of jaguars fighting in Refúgio Ecológico caiman ( which is completely normal to happen ) but they don't unveil on their youtube channel anymore (or anywhere else in a looong time).

One of the fight footages during Ronaldo's interview was at night it showed 2 females against 1 and the single outnumbered female was in the middle and fending off both other females on an impressive fighting style.

One of the few things I know on todays dynamics in Refúgio Ecológico caiman is that Magrão (skinny) male took Monteiro's male territory and he vanished.

Prainha,Baleado and Neo male are the jaguars from Refúgio da Ilha Ecolodge it is yet part of southern Pantanal its really amazing the work of Refúgio da Ilha Ecolodge are having nice outcomes, Julia female is one of the most famous jaguars of that area and Neo male is probably the largest male out there.

about Tiago, I will drop a post on the other Jaguar thread.

I'm pretty sure Praínha/Baleado are the same male, look closely at the marks on its forehead. As far as I'm aware there haven't been any captures Ilha Ecolodge but they confirmed with me today that captures will begin this September so I'm very excited about it!

Personally I believe the male from the carcass is 130+, his frame compared to the calf is huge and he looks very stocky.

Here's my best guess...
I have an 8.5'' or 21.59cm long hand from the base of my palm to tip of my middle finger.
I'm 6'5'' so I'm probably much taller than this kid holding the skull, lets just guess that he's 5'10'' with a hand size of around 7.4'' or 18.79cm

I'd guess the Zygomatic arch to be around 1-1.5'' wider than his hand, so that puts it around 8.4''-8.9''
That is a very wide Skull and belongs to an animal over 100kg for sure.
Any skull over 8'' wide in Almeidas book belonged to a Jaguar over 100kg.

Length is much harder to determine but generally when a Skull is at least 8'' wide the skull length is at least 11 6/16" long.

That carcass a good portion of it has already been eaten so it kinda gets dwarfed, he is a robust male indeed but I think he can definitely get bigger than that and grow more specially with the cattle consumption (which he's already having).

anyways do you know who this male is? I'm curious.

About Prainha/Baleado they could be the same male indeed since in that area people tend to give different names on 1 single animal. I am gonna check this out in details later.

Still too difficult I'd think but I estimate that the distance of the outside index finger to the distance of the outside thumb would be 3''
It looks as though you can multiply that between 3-4 times total length, which would be around 11'' + length. By all accounts this Jaguar is going to be 110kg +
No problem.
He was a huge cat, definitely the size of an average Pantanal Male, no problem.

I have asked multiple times to get his name with no luck unfortunately... I hope they can continue posting pictures and videos about him in better angles, that way we could appreciate better his size.

The Heavyweight, The Powerhouse, Colombiano male Onça.

South Pantanal

the female with him is Carol she was already captured and weighed 91.5kg so in the video we gotta take estimations of how big Colombiano male is by the size of the female.

@Dark Jaguar surprisingly Colombiano doesn't really dwarf her so I'm inclined to believe he might not be as big as we once thought. I'm guessing he weights between 120 to 130 kg.

It was a bit far away but I get your point. On the fighting video he dwarves Mancha preta male very decently and we know Mancha preta weights 101kg about 10kg larger than Carol female. He is probably empty haha. I wish there were more footages of him and Carol together more up close.

I have noticed that there are some ripped males from that same area that don't really weight that much, MM male is a clear example, he weights "only" 121 kg yet has a very muscular frame

That's the reason I don't think that male you showed me yesterday is that massive but he is very robust.

Remember the size comparison post I made? with Adriano and another male larger than him?? that is a 140kg range male.

Speaking of 140kg, that 140kg male who got ran over must have a massive thorax circumference.
