But many things can be done, we can just look to Sheldrick Wildlife Vets (which I donate to when I can) in Kenya. They treat lions, leopards, cheetahs, etc... and do surgery in the field for sure. Unfortunately something like a broken leg is a death sentence because they 100% cannot take a wild lion into a cage for rehabilitation. Maybe Sassy developed some sort of dementia or something possibly? That was a horrible and sad situation. Definitely my friend @BigLion39 that Sassy developed a sort of mental issue due to the stress she was living and didn't experience before, animals are not robots. I'd love we could understand more those behaviors that we only attribute to humans.

Also my worst fear may have been realized as the black dam males may have just become fathers and chela is the mother meaning she may be a lone female like her sister ridgenose they both did it to protect the pride

Three of the Nkuhuma Lionesses from 2019 litters have been separated from the core and have been in the company of the BDYMs. Going to be interesting if these and Chela form a separate group….more to be seen. Slides 3 & 4 below
Breaks my heart this pride was once gonna be 9 Females strong ( 4 matimba daughters 3 Birmingham and 2 avoca ) but some left and some passed away So potentially 2 nkuhuma breakaway prides? If those 3 girls stay with the black dam males ridgenoses pride should be renamed

But maybe since shes not often seen and living a bit of a nomadic existence, there isnt ONE reserve that feels compelled to do so. |
