David Yarrow: "The Old Testament
We look forward to returning to Africa soon. My understanding is that there is a good chance some international flights to some key African tourist destinations will start again within 6 - 8 weeks. Whatever the case, whether it be 6 weeks or 3 months, when we do return, we will feel an even greater appreciation of what we see. I think we may all have been a little blasé about it in the past, but those days are now gone forever. We are just thankful for the opportunity and blessed with so many memories. 2020 is a line in the sand on so many fronts - it’s probably our generation’s pivotal year. We called this picture The Old Testament" because it had a timelessness about it. As always, I thank my friend Kevin Richardson (@lionwhisperersa) for making this image even remotely possible. "

Researchers capture drone footage of African 'tree lions' in conservation study
Researcher Alexander Braczkowski spent a year monitoring and filming lions in the Queen Elizabeth conservation area in Uganda. In just-published results, Braczkowski found the area’s lions are in a precarious state, with the home ranges of males much larger than previously estimated – suggesting they are having to travel farther to find food. Braczkowski got a special permit to use aerial photography and slowly got the lions used to the drones over time. The result has been valuable research into the big cat, as well as some incredible imagery https://www.theguardian.com/environment/...are_btn_tw

I wish there was a better solution to the issue of increasing human population and pressure on wildlife, but barring that these schemes provide some relief.  |
