Two different crazy lion sightings today at @londolozi of the northern Avoca males. One in them “ Blondie “ with Nkuhuma pride on Giraffe kill in the northern part of londolozi and the other Avoca “ DarkMane “ seen with two kambula young males on another giraffe kill in the southern part of londolozi.

It looks like DM, not Mohawk. Blondie is with Nkuchuma pride, not Kambula. Reply

Yeah that’s DM. He needs to be careful. Isn’t the Kambula pride current being courted by the N'waswishaka‘s? I’m glad he’s found a very good meal. He looks full. But again, I hope he stays safe Reply

It looks like DM, not Mohawk. Blondie is with Nkuchuma pride, not Kambula.

Dark Mane still in Londolozi :

Do you guys think that now when Talamatis "left" him (atleast for now) that he is now in semi-nomadic/nomadic phase?? Maybe trying to join his brothers and Nkuhumas?

Really hard to understand what is going on in northern Sabi Sands atm, why Talamatis and Dark Mane roam that much out of their usuall area, as per recent Mluwati update, Imbali male is again seen further north. Reply

One of the South avoca male mated one new lionesses near H1-2. 
That's really great, now these two boys are controlling 4 prides sand river, Plain camp, nwaswitshakas breakaway and might be this one too. Earlier they had mated with last spartan girl and have two sets of litters with her, but alas that didn't workout. I am happy that these two brothers are in excellent form and diversify their genes in various prides. 
My only concern is that, aren't they overstreaching their territory. Just 2 male lions for 4 prides!!!! 
Never heard of that, moreover, apart from PC subs all their cubs are very small. Which again make them vulnerable if their father don't spend time with them and overstreaching the territory Reply

Mohawk is a beast. He really has turned into an impressive lion. 

When was the last time DM was seen with the Talamatis? I seem to recall last spring he was apart from them for about 4-6 weeks, I think. They eventually came back together of course. But things are different now. The subadults are nearly adults and thus are starting to make their own way, and the younger adult females are with S8. That said, I think DM may be roaming a bit, perhaps transitioning into a nomadic existence because I don’t believe there are any prides in the area whom he can take over without a fight. And I don’t think he’s looking to get into a confrontation.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. This is year 4 since the N.Avocas arrived in the Djuma area and year three Blondie/Mohawk have been with the Nkuhumas and DM with the Talamatis. I guess this is why the dynamics are changing right now and seem to be all over the place as year three almost always results in a shifting of the guard when a coalition or lone lion have been the dominant male over an area. It is a bit too early to judge it I believe, it is worrying through that he yet did not joined up with his brothers.

With a Imbali male now terrytorial around Sabi Sands/Manyeleti border and with big Nkuchuma pride around southern Djuma, there is not much space in between so it makes sense for the subadults to look for some more room either for the time being and then to rejoin with 3 Selati daughters or to settle down permamently and establish new territory. Also I wouldn't say they are much of their ussual arena like they were semi nomadic. I would like to point out that it is not sudden apperance in random place, but constand steady shift of their movement over time. From about a year ago they they shifted from Manyeleti into Djuma. More recently they also switched to Elephant Plains and now they started testing lands a bit further west. Reply

Yes, I think it could be an overreach, however I believe they do have some subs of at least 2 years of age with the Sand River Pride.  Most of the offspring are cubs, but aren't 4 now about 2 years old? Reply

Someone pls correct me if I am wrong, but i think till now S. Avocas have sired just one male subadult that too from PC pride and he is 2ish. Their initial year were wasted with competition mantimahle, Charleston, tsalalas and matshapiri. Also their bonding with sparta pride could not go fruitful. 
I am not sure if they have any male sub in sand river pride. 
But good thing is that ,unlike their younger bros DM and blondie, they are in perfect condition Reply

No, only 1 sub female is born around late 2019, rest are cubs. Reply
