Thanks for the video.
Its really nice to see the interaction between Katezari and Gabbar.
Katezari comes to a waterhole first, but after seeing Gabbar he started moving away in the water by giving Gabbar the space.
Gabbar got into the water and started relaxing.
This interaction shows that Gabbar is the more dominant male of the two.
Katezari moved in a slower pace, Gabbar seemed relaxed and both the males had a watchful eye on each other. This shows there is a degree of respect between both the males (eventhough Gabbar looked dominant).
It would have been great if the cameraman had caught both the males in the same shot or moved the camera continously to show both the male's presence in a single shot.

TFS

How do we know what happened?
You never see both tigers in the same shot, it could be one of katezari swimming and a seperate one of Gabbar resting, etc.
You would need to see what the eye witness says about the occurance before we come to any conclusions about the incident. They could be from different days for all we know.

I too initially had the same thought, but after carefully seeing the video for several times, I found the lighting, shadow and the way the camera was shaking all to be similar. I also dont see why Katezari as to turn and see several times unless there was something.
Recently Katezari and Gabbar had a skirmish, so adding all together I came to this conclusion. But I did mention in my previous post that it would have been nice to see them in the same shot.

I know Gabbar and the new young male had a fight whichl gabbar took the worst of, I have not heard from anybody about a Gabbar vs Katezari Skirmish, that I have seen at least. Its far to inconclusive to try and determine if the "shadow" is in the same area. Also, Tigers are wild animals so they are always looking around their surroundings, at least from what I have seen. I will check out he Tadoba page, they will most likely have something on this if it occured, but usually when two males interact, many photographers are commenting and providing narration on it. I would think especially with these two famous boys, there will be much info if it did actually happen.

Regarding the fight between Gabbar and the new young male, it happened some time back.
Im talking about the recent fight or skirmish between Katezari and Gabbar, where Gabbar got is nose injured.

You can always verify the video posted by Rage2277 with your sources and then decide.
Everyones opinions and info are always welcomed.

Tadoba lake tigers are proving out to be a very complicated bunch to follow around but from the information that I have gathered, I'm almost certain that it was not Katezari that Gabbar recently fought, there's two possiblities at this point.

1) the person that snapped the bloody-nose Gabbar reported that he saw Saturn mating with Maya shortly after.
2) the new young male with scars on his upper-body that has been lurking around Gabbar's territory is another tiger of interest.

here's a little flashback of (Gabbar vs Saturn, Gabbar vs Katezari & Katezari vs Saturn)

Katezari vs Gabbar

Leopard face's injuries against a fight with Katezari male in (August/2014) exact date of the fight was 08/22/14. (Minor injuries)

Katezari male's injuries from the same fight (Minor injuries)

the fight that took place in (August/2014) between Katezari and Gabbar was not serious. from all the information i gathered, they both avoid conflict and have territories bordering one another. Katezari won't tolerate him in his space and Gabbar won't tolerate him in his space. the order is set between the two. same can be said about Katezari/Saturn and Saturn/Gabbar.

Saturn vs Gabbar

Saturn vs Gabbar (known fight records) dates back to (November 2013), both of them had each other in the death grip - there were rumors that Saturn had the upperhand but after going through pictures and asking those that were present. the fight apparently was a definite draw. Both males dispersed after and went in different directions.

Katezari vs Saturn

the only known recorded fight between the two happened in June of 2013 (pictures have been posted already by Pckts)

to make it a little easier, here's the official record of their fights

Katezari vs Gabbar (August/2014)
Katezari vs Saturn (June/2013)
Gabbar vs Saturn (November/2013)
Gabbar vs ????? (February/2015)

Katezari or (tyson) his other name and Gabbar's situation in 2014.

....on our morning safari in June 2014 we were lucky enough to observe a male tiger in Tadoba in his absolute prime.
'Tyson' is a huge male tiger who has a large territory either side of Tadoba Lake which overlaps with an area where at least 3 female tigers roam. Sometimes there is a little conflict with another male called 'Leopard Face' who is smaller than Tyson and loses all the territorial battles....
don't get confused he is Katezari male but the writer called him "Tyson".

here's another instance where Saturn and Katezari both avoided each other

http://joy-vasu.blogspot.ca/search?updat...date=false

I don't think any of these tigers are more dominant over the others, all 3 have territories bordering one another and there's no need to fight anymore. (fights only happen when one steps on to another male's territory)

as far as size goes, Katezari is definitely bigger than both. I don't know about #2 and #3, Gabbar and Saturn are both impressive males to me.

Edit: Katezari male was the male that fought Gabbar and has been moving with P2 or Maya (Confirmed as of February/9/2015)

How did you hear about the Gabbar vs Katezari fight in feb?
Was Katezari the one who caused the nasty wounds on Gabbar that you posted?
What about the new male fighting with Gabbar, at least what was reported?

You're correct sir.

"Rivalry with Katezari male. Katezari male is now moving with Maya (p2). Confirmed on 9th feb 2015diasyscal | 7 days ago"

Any images of Katezari since the fight?
It definitely looks like Gabbar got the worst of it.
@Roflcopters
Is there any truth to Gabbar killing one of Katezari's cubs?
Minha said it, but you know how that goes.

Good,
I guess all confusions are clear right now.
As I said before in the start Katezari and Gabbar had a fight with each other recently, I hope @Pckts agrees with me now.

Regarding the fight between Gabbar and the New male, I guess it took place some where in the 2014.
I hope either  @Rage2277 or  @Roflcopters can help us with the dates.

I never disagreed, I just said the video you showed has no evidence of them reacting to eachother. But the video certainly seems misleading since we now know that it was Katezari who put the hurting gabbar so I doubt Gabbar would be able to intimidate Katezari.

Good to hear that you never disagreed.

Here is a latest video from Ranthambore taken on 17 February 2015. It shows tigress T19 with her 3 cubs.

Hi,
I have heard the rumors of fights between Ustad and Sultan.

Last year, I was going 3 times in Ranthambore. I have seen some changes in the attitude of Sultan. In March and May, Sultan was many times in the border of zone 1. One time I have see them together approximately twenty meters between them. Very quiet. But in December, I note Sultan was very aggressive. He charge the jeep, he come in zone 2, etc...
For me, it was the signal that He wanted to take the power. In 15 days I am in Rantahmbore for 50 safaris. I have time to follow the process. I think in 2016,the new king will be Sultan. I have follow same process on others tigers. I recognize the comportment of tigers with my experience, etc.
But I think in first time Ustad and Sultan will be kings together ( like B2 and Bamera) and after just Sultan. Remember Sultan is relatively friendly with his father.

Nice info @Dithoo.
How does Sultans size compare to his father? I know its hard to tell but who do you think is the larger one now?

Size is same. And the weight same. But Sultan is more round, and his muscles are more compacts. Ustad's muscles are more relaxed.
All differences between young and old tigers.
A point to understand, next year young Cubs of T39 gone and the mother is available for mating. It is another reason, for me, the problem come really in the summer in 2016.
