There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

MALAMALA TODAY: October 2nd-5th.
Lions: Over the last 4 days we enjoyed 11 lion sightings including 4 coalitions: The Manyelethi male with the scarred nose has been mating with a lioness from the Kambula pride in the stretch of the Sand River between our camps. He later joined up with his darker maned brother  midway along the Matshipiri River.

The 3 Marthly/Tsalala males: The 3 nomadic males from the Marthly pride made surprise return to the area where they grew up-we viewed them on each of the last 3 days within 2kms of Main Camp.

The Avoca males: were seen at Hyena Waterhole.

3 of the Gowrie males: were at Campbell Koppies.

5 of the Kambula lionesses: killed a kudu north of Emsagwen Waterhole- they spent a couple days there before moving to Bicycle Crossing.

"watched these 2 young males from the time they were 6 week old cubs until they were forced out of their pride around 3 years old. Growing up with 8 other cubs within their pride, by the time they reached maturity, only 4 remained from 10. Testament to the difficulties of life in the wild."
How are these boys doing? And how many young Sparta males are they?

As much aggression as the majingalanes show to mini-hipscar, they will get tired of this lot hanging around too long pretty quick considering there are 9 of them. Lol.

The calm before the storm. This pride of lions, 17 in total, all gathered on this termite mound to scan the area of some form of prey. What happened next was a little bit crazy

The impressive Mhangene Pride continues to impress us. After finishing off an adult zebra kill, and quenching their thirst, they lie down in a carpet of lions. In the background, ominous clouds brings a promise of rain to quench the thirst of the dry land.

One of the comments from Dulani.. 17 members in Mhangeni pride...
Looks like some youngster is accepted into the pride..
May be one of the Younger Othawa cubs went missing recently

"17 is the number that the guides have been using lately. Add the 2 Majingilanes that have been with the group and we've counted up to 19!"
