lion dynamics are far more complex than we can imagine. Who would have thought this young male stood any chance. Apparently, the three males are the Mantimahle while the young male is from Skukuza according to the comments.
THESE MALES WERE SPOTTED ON LION SANDS TODAY WITH THE SAND RIVER PRIDE. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE STARTED EXPANDING THEIR TERRITORY.HOPE THE SOUTHERN PRIDE AVOIDS THEM, AND THE CHARLESTON MALES. AND THE YOUNG CHARLESTON MALES. AND EVERY LION IN SOUTHERN SABI SANDS/MALA MALA. THESE GUYS ARE MONSTERS!!!!
Mantimahle males - Mala Mala Reserve - May 15,2017
MALAMALA TODAY: May 15th. 5 lion sightings: 3 large males (Mantimahle) moved north through the southern half of our property before settling down in eastern Flockfield. The Eyrefield pride were viewed in southwestern Charleston- this pride has suffered another blow as the aforementioned male collation of 5 killed the oldest male cub. The Marthly pride were seen at Paraffin Drift. 1 of the Matshapiri males was moving west just north of Rattray's Camp.
i read on here that the mantimahles are huge, but i don't see much difference between them and the birminghams. the charlestons seem to be big males too.
The Majingalanes are in the western block, Londolozi is the only property between MalaMala and Majingalane territory so they are very close. If the Matshpiris still had a stronghold in Londolozi they would have acted as a buffer for the Majingalanes from other coalitions in the east but that's not the case anymore so anything can happen pretty much.
