Majingilane Coalition Male Lineage

@Mapokser

Its hard to guess exact birth dates of Majingilanes and Matimbas as we dont have their photos as cubs (proven), i think we only have photo of Hairy Belly as cub around late 2007, and he was prob from youngest litter.

Pictures of them as subs is hard to judge, as some 3-4 year olds can look really developed (look at Mayambulas for example), while others can look like like subs, without mane.

Based of their lineage and those who came after them, I think Matimbas had genes who develop quickly, and that they already looked really developed at the age of 3-4.

Not sure about Majingilanes, as they came from Kruger, but some of their sons, like DM Fourways, Sparta males, Styx males and OM also developed really quickly, so they might aswell.

I think both coalitions developed quickly and become territorial quite early.

Obiviously, we dont know if all males in those coalitions are even the same age, as we can see, for example in current Kambula coalition, 1 male is almost full year younger, while until recently, he looked 2nd most developed, so thats tricky.

Scar Nose Majingilane looked very young in 2010 after they defeated Mlowatis, so I wouldnt be suprised if theres some age gap between some members in a coalition (I think its presumed that DM, HS and 5th where a bit older, but we dont know how much).

@Ahmed Ali You're saying HS was at least half a year older than DM and all the other several months older than DM, the only one born in mid 2006? He always looked to be the oldest alongside 5th in terms of development. Once they all reached their primes, DM had the smallest mane, but still ththe biggest one back in their young days. He was always more dominant too, which is unlikely if he was so much younger.

The easiest explanation is just that the cub is either not DM or the photo wasn't taken in August 2006.

Late 2005 is reasonable enough for them, but mid 2006 seems way too off for any of them.

As for some of them being born in early 2006, you meant Rob Vamphew ( Rob the Ranger ) told you that? If so Rob woule have no way to know that, he can barely remember the Mapogo ages, he wouldn't know about males that crossed to Sabi Sands when they were already adults.

Majingilane had good genes no doubt, they were big, competent males who sired some magnificent offspring like the OM and one of the Styx males, or the huge Kambulas, nobody denies that, but DM being as young as being born in mid 2006 sounds way too off.

@BA0701 Nkorho estimated them to be "5-6yo" in their report of the fight and I'd say 5 to 5,5yo is very reasonable, most 5yo Kruger males look like them, if you see the lions from this generation, even related to Majingis, only a few like K4 had full manes by 5yo, even HB at 4,5yo didn't look as developed as Majingis during that fight.

I don't think they grew much bigger after that fight, only their manes filled and they bulked up a bit, 5th was more impressive than the prime Mapogo and DM didn't look any smaller than Mr.T when they faced each other in the video.

I agree they gained their final confidence from the fight with KT, but let's not forget they were already sort of territorial in Kruger, over the 4ways pride, we have photos of them with the 4ways females as early as December 2009.

@Tr1x24 there are photos of Matimbas and sisters as big cubs in late 2006, as well as HB in March or May 2007, IIRC Ngala also says that elder Birmingham females ( now only 1 remaining ) were born in 2006 and gave them an age that would make them be born in at least mid 2006, as well as Sabi Sands guides got info from other reserves that Matimba were born in May.

We also know their fathers arrived at Ngala in 2006. So the OG estimation of their age when they were in SS at mid 2011 were mostly on point, when a photographer who knew them before they came said they were 5yo with one being a year older or something like that.

I agree that with Majingis it's harder, but I think a very well educated guess is that they were significantly older than Matimbas just like Matimbas were older than the Salatis, they were probably around Ndhuna's age, at least half a year older than the other Matimba and at least a year older than HB.

I mean these are the Matimba in July 2011, at Nkorho by James Gomes:

Slitnose and Shaka are well developed for 5yo, but HB ( proven to be born in December 2006 to January ) still has just a small mohawk when he was 4,5yo here.

Here Majingis in December 2010 at Londolozi, barely half a year after the fight with Mapogo:

If DM ( the most well developed/basically fully developed here ) was born in mid 2006 he'd just be 4,5yo here, same age as bald HB in the photo above

Not only him but all Majingis look very well developed here.

Cub on that photo looks to be almost 1 year old (atleast half year old), so idk how you conclude that that cub is born mid 2006, if photo was taken in August 2006.

Also, as I said, we cant compare ages of different males from how developed they are, as some are more, some less at certain age.

In my opinion, Majingas members where prob born from mid 2005 to early 2006, while Matimbas a bit younger, from mid 2006 to late 2006/early 2007.

@Tr1x24 that cub doesn't look like a 1yo cub to me, it's just one photo but that's my impression.

I don't disagree with your estimation of their age, Majingi and Matimba, I completely agree, that cub just doesn't strike me as being anywhere near a year old.
