I’m wondering if he’s just a weak hunter and that he struggles for food because of it? Old southern avoca is now a pro at hunting pigs. Is there less food available to hunt? More difficult areas to hunt? He used to be strong and fast enough to take down a Buffalo but more nuanced hunting and stalking seems to have been a life long challenge.

I hate seeing him like this, but it is not the first time. I was hopeful that he might begin to recover some, when he was able to hang with the Manghenis, as it is obvious with that leg he is just not going to be able to feed himself properly.

His old hip injury has compromised his ability to hunt as effective as before. He had been improving when he was with the Manghenis because he was getting steady meals. But now he is to scavenge what he can
I think this finally puts to bed an old conversation in the Sabi Sands thread about him being useless hunting and entirely dependant on Mhangenis. As the only adult male with the pride ofcourse he was going to steal their kills, I mean how many times do we see the PCMs make their own kills instead of stealing from any of their prides. This is the natural way of things happening when u are the strongest member.
Tumbela was actively seen following Mhangenis into hunts and many suggested he’d helped take down the bigger prey (buffalo) when he was around.
Good for him! Glad he found the strength and opportunity to take down a Buffalo, must have been a battle!
Did he help the mangheni take down that Buffalo recently? Smaller game is not his strong suit so I’m very happy that he’s feeling strong enough to take down a Buffalo.
Will he maybe contact the mangheni and invite them over?
