There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

I appreciate what he does. After all, it is not his responsibility to make videos covering the history or all the stories of lions. Sadly The Lioness's channel is inactive. She and Scar probably don't realize how many people they have woken up by watching their videos who initially did no't care about lions or any wildlife . At least a few of my friends.

Is his voice used in his videos? I ask because I have heard his voice in other videos, unrelated to lions, so don't know if the voice is a hired gun for YT channels, or if perhaps he has directed his energies towards something that may get him more views. It is often concerning when I see popular YT channels (such as the Tintswalo channel) getting few views and even fewer likes, I see similar issues with a lot of wildlife site's work, continually hoping they will get enough subs and likes to keep them active.

I do believe it is a hired orator in the videos.  It is ironic that I actually became a fan of Sabi sand  Lions because of the scar channel and his updates.  I did a lot of my initial fandom on YT and it wasn’t till later I discovered the other mediums and this forum.   I am going to show him these Comments to someone I know can get them to him so he can see how much we do appreciate his efforts and wish he doesn’t go away :)

Yes, please do. I believe that is the problem. I looked at @EverseenSA  's channel, and it is disheartening to see how few views and likes he receives as well. He is one of the best in the industry, and has slowed down his recent posting as well. I just hope the lack of views and likes (the things that pay on YT) is not driving these channels away, as the work they do is so truly important.

A lot of YT channels that did Sabi Sands and other lion content just become inactive or disappeared, some of them are mentioned, but theres also "ignijam" YT channel that become inactive, and "destroyah"  who disappeared or got deleted, both great channel. Also there was channel called "wild enthusiasm" or something like that, also disappeared.

I think that a lot of this "fan" based channels have copyright problems.

I think the loss of OM impacted the decision of “Ignijam”.  I believe his content stopped as a result.    I do know this affected Scar as well.  He took time off and decided to return.

I was disappointed w Destroyah’s decision to also close and delete the content.   I told them it was understood if they just didn’t want to post anymore, but many of us save these video as record and it was a lot of great history there.  But in haste they decided to stop and purge.   Days later they regretted it but was too late .

It’s happened again with Lioness.   All those great videos now gone Sad

Making these videos prob takes a lot of time and effort, and in todays busy world, without having some benefit from it, its prob not worth making it, regardless how passionate you are about lions.

It is sad that all those channels had to close.
I was subscribed to them and others still active.
I always give them likes and make any comment to support them.

I know that one of our well known members was involved with Destroyah, though I don't want to out him I'll let him do that if he chooses. However, if he sees this, perhaps he can provide some input as to what happened.

I have never reached The Lioness, but I feel like Tsalala queen's tragedy caused her to delete the channel. If I remember correctly after Tsalala queen passed away, she made a very short video and took a vacation,  and then, she stopped. Nature can be so sad and cruel, especially you can do nothing making you feel so depressed. I wish all these wonderful YouTubers the best and hope they come back soon.

More than likely, it cause them a lot of pain and depression when they go through the stories.

What you're saying makes sense because now I realized that it appears that she did stop posting/uploading videos after the heartbreaking news of the death of the Tsalala by the PC boys.

"The Southern Pride was resting on the granite outcrops in the southern parts of our reserve – possibly to keep warm as the temperature began to drop. We suspect they had made a kill the previous night as they had traces of blood on them and had been cleaning themselves. As it got darker, the adult lioness yawned and stretched, typical behaviour at this time of day as it is ideal hunting time for lions."

Great to see oldest daughters of the N'waswitshaka males are doing so well

Its tough following animals this close and it can be difficult to remember that we are not watching a Disney movie. But nature at its rawest.

Humans are rather spoiled in our easy and long lives so we forget that for animals this isn't some form of right or entitlement. But a price for hard work, taking risk or avoiding them. When a cub is born, we immediately assign a future to it. A female cub is going to be a great hunter and lots of cubs herself. While a male cub surely is going to be a great king, destined to rule lots of prides and coalitions in the near future.

In reality 80 percent or so of them dies or disappears in the first few years. Whether we named them or not. So that's a lot of disappointment and sadness to build up. While those that do make it are build up to such legends that it attracts a lot of fanboyism. People arguing how this or that coalition is going to rule supreme and kick the others asses. Even when there is little reason for them to fight in real life.

And then there is the discussion of human intervention. Lots of people expect the reserves to give their favourite animals preferial treatment.
Saving them rather than letting nature take its course. Even if the impact on nature itself is vastly negative. Everybody wants the guides to shoot some poor impala so their starving lion can feed. But you never see anyone arguing to stop that same lion later when he is killing a leopard or cheetah. Cheering even if its a Hyena. Conspiracies run rampant and things can turn toxic fast.

Luckily things here are quite civil. Facebook and Youtube on the other hand are quite a filthpool at times. I can easily see that a youtuber already dealing with his or her emotions on the topic itself gets overwhelmed when something big happens. And just decides to quit.
