There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

" Wild Eye guest @lizmtoma captured this lovely video on our recent safari to @sabisabireserve .

We barely left Bush Lodge when we bumped into the large herd. They made their way over to the front of the camp & drank from Bush Pan. The perfect way to start a safari experience!

Zhayynn James: " A huge tusker emerges from the dense forest, out into the open. Unlike African elephants where both, male and female of the species sport tusks, with the Asian elephant, only the male has tusks, hence the sobriquet ‘Tusker’. "

" Often referred to as "the ghosts of the bush", these two bull elephants made no sound as they walked through the long dry grass. "

Quote: "COIMBATORE: A 35-year-old elephant was killed in a fight with another tusker in the Valparai forest range of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) on Monday evening. This is the third wild elephant death reported within the Pollachi division of the ATR this year."

David Yarrow: " The Witness⁣

It was quite a busy evening alone on the ground underneath Kilimanjaro a few weeks back. I had my moment and the temptation later that night was to crop out the elephant on the right. After all, the charging bull is coming right towards me and is almost symmetrical to the mountain - so perhaps less was more. ⁣
But we went back and forth with both options and we all agreed to keep the smaller elephant in the final crop. There were two reasons for this: firstly; the elephant to the right adds a sense of scale to the big bull and secondly; if anyone disagrees they can do the crop themselves. There is no such thing as a correct image, it is whatever works for the viewer. ⁣
So, whilst I am an advocate of the power of reductivism, hence my preference for monochrome, we thought it best to show this memorable capture in its widest frame. There is perhaps that little bit more compositional balance this way than in the tight portrait. What do you think? "

Elephants are the most iconic herbivorous of the world, IMO. Big rhinos and big tuskers elephants are animals which have something mineral, feeling confirmed in front of a black-and-white photo. Something like a serene aura is floating over them.
