RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ngonya - 10-02-2024 "One of the Birmingham Breakaway Males calling to establish their presence and dominance in the area after a run-in with a few other young male Lions. (Monwana) This coalition of males are far from settled down in any particular territory, but they make themselves known wherever they end up. Incredible to have watched them go from members of the pride to nomadic males trying to stake their claim in the Timbavati." Birmingham Breakway male Dzombo making himself heard reafirming his presence in the area RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ngonya - 10-02-2024 (10-02-2024, 08:38 PM)Ngonya Wrote: One of the Birmingham Breakaway Males calling to establish their presence and dominance in the area after a run-in with a few other young male Lions.(Monwana)more footage including a video on the persecution, by Johan Adolf Smalman The chase Kovu & Indlebe leading the chase, Dzombo right behind them Dzombo passes by Indlebe and bonds with his younger brother Ilanga RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tr1x24 - 10-03-2024 Yea looks like Monwana young males will need to move from this area as long as Birmingham Breakaways are there. This would give us access into the reserve where we believe the Black Dam pride has made home with their Xikukutzu Coalition pride Males I wonder is Mapoza linked up with Xikukuzu again and they're in that area? I very much wonder. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Tr1x24 - 10-05-2024 (10-05-2024, 01:57 PM)BigLion39 Wrote: I wonder is Mapoza linked up with Xikukuzu again and they're in that area? I very much wonder. Doubt that, their last encounter, and last time Xikukutsus where in Thornybush (2022 or 2023, cant remember) was hostile, Mapoza chased them back south. I thought he was presumed gone/dead? This would give us access into the reserve where we believe the Black Dam pride has made home with their Xikukutzu Coalition pride Males We don't receive reports from the area that is being wondered about, there is no traffic there, which is why, I believe, @BigLion39 is wondering if he may have gone there. There were some strange reports floating around, at the time he disappeared, but given the amount of time that has passed, with no confirmation of those reports, everything surrounding Mapoza seems to have fallen into a black hole ever since. At this point, it is anyone's guess. One thing is for certain, the BDMs are making their way through the cubs, and taking the pride. Sadly, I believe so as well. RE: Lions of Timbavati - Ttimemarti - 10-06-2024 I believe so as well but I mean it just doesn’t make sense he just disappeared lol I don’t think the black dams killed him to be honest but he just disappeared I swear last time I saw him was when the entire pride backed him in chasing the avoca male away but he does have 5 or 6 sons from the monwana pride and if he was alive he’d 100% he with them so unfortunately I guess he is gone RE: Lions of Timbavati - BA0701 - 10-06-2024 (10-06-2024, 01:36 AM)Ttimemarti Wrote: I believe so as well but I mean it just doesn’t make sense he just disappeared lol I don’t think the black dams killed him to be honest but he just disappeared I swear last time I saw him was when the entire pride backed him in chasing the avoca male away but he does have 5 or 6 sons from the monwana pride and if he was alive he’d 100% he with them so unfortunately I guess he is gone Last time I recall seeing him was when the BDMs attacked the pride, and injured a lioness in the process. I believe she was trying to defend a cub. Mapoza was with them, and was recorded fleeing the scene, and we were all thankful that he managed a lucky escape. I think there were some reports within the following few days that he was seen well, but that was the last time I recall actually seeing him, and then suddenly he is gone, so there is no telling what has happened, but it doesn't look good for him at all. Mapoza, a true rarity, and a warrior through and through, rare for being a lone male for so long, and thriving in the role, akin to RRM. |
