Casper with his partner and his cubs...

" Here is Casper the White Lion with his three new lion cubs and their mother, a lioness from the Satara Lion Pride.
Filmed on the H6 south of Satara Rest Camp after the family feasted on a buffalo kill.

As concerns Casper, 2024 starts well...

" Casper the White Lion is about ten years old, yet he is still in good health and does not appear to be limping as he was a few months ago. We wish Casper a long and healthy life. "

One of the Shishangaan male seems to be a very huge one. We see it approaching a hyena before to run after and kill it. We don't see the "operating kill" but all the circling manoeuvre. Then, two other males are  coming to join it and the last of them... Casper which stays alone with the hyena's corpse according to the guard (or the tracker). Video dated from the 27th january 2024.

" We were on a early morning drive, when we decided to go to a lion sighting that had a buffalo kill, 1 of the 4 shishangaan males was feeding on the carcass when a hyena showed up trying to get a piece from the carcass, which was at the displeasure of the lion. "

The Casper insights are pretty nice, although he seems to be limping again...

" Casper the white male lion taking care of the Satara lion cubs in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.

The Satara lion pride welcomed 3 new cubs last year November. Over the last few weeks Casper the white lion assumed the protector role. He is often seen alone with the cubs or in the company of the mother and 3 cubs. With Casanova and Footloose of the Shishangaan coalition usually patrolling the nearby territory. Mfowethu sustained an injury last year October/November so he is often spotted alone and condition seems to be on a slow decline. He still joins up with the Satara pride and his brothers from time to time but not as frequent in the past.

There is another lioness from the Satara pride who is due to give birth soon so wee look forward to seeing their arrival.

The Shishangaan males seem to be spending most of their time with the Satara pride.

It’s been a while since they have visited part of the N’semani pride which they fathered cubs with last year.

So it will be interesting to see if they go back or if their sole focus will be on taking care of the Satara pride."
