Thats awful too. Didnt even thought about them, i expected such a thing from PCMs since they were around and had killed females before. But by this ur saying Ndzhengas could very well be a possibility. What a shame, why would any male kill a female with no cubs and ready to mate?

Not the first time the northern sector becomes the stage for drama in the past few months. Truly hope the Kambulas get it together and finally stabilish themselves as pride males, so things get better there.

Are we sure that Chela went back to estrus already after she lost her cubs? I dont recall that she was seen mating with K4, only in his company alongside subs.
Maybe she was with subs, and males attacked them and she stand in between to protect the subs, as there was a lot of lion footprints around.
Maybe NKs where on a kill, her belly looks very full, and males attacked and grab her.

I think we said that there is 1 female left who should not be in estrus, that she is either heavily pregnant or denning.
As we see on this dead body, she has massive belly and suckle marks.
I was thinking the same thing but she must have been feeding if it was 100% her. Not very common for male lions to kill females especially if there’s food around.
Well, this morning sucks now. Chela was the leader of that pride, and if she treated the PCM's like she did Khanya, I can see the PCM's taking more offense to that. The attention now must turn to the young male. Will he be ok? If the N'Was have also moved up here, and you have the Mantimahle's hanging around somewhere, what a mess this could become. Both K4 and Khanya were mating with Nkhuma girls. Are they still around? If the Nkhuma's get pregnant now it's likely it could be from any of them. The north is such a mess. I truly wish K3, 5, and 6 were more in tune...
The other issue here, is that if the PCM's are going to mate with Nkhuma's what's to stop them now from just keeping on keeping on finding more lionesses in heat. The West is how wide open, and all the cubs there in danger as well. Lions are a crazy bunch to follow and not lose your mind.

I don’t think Khanya has been seen mating with them although I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if he had. Also I doubt Mantimahles will be a problem as of rn for either the Ndzengas or PCMs as they’re more likely to have conflicts between each other. Mantimahles don’t usually go that far West whereas both Ndzengas and PCMs have visited Northern Sabi Sands several times. Them being more familiar with the area prolly means they’re less likely to back down.

I honestly don’t think they're aware he’s gone unless they chased him off with Nkuhuma male.

Khanya absolutely was mating, and is said to have been seen with all of them.

Now the Othawa Breakaway is their last daughter in SS.
It's hard not to resent the PCM, they have killed so many of my favorite subadults and lionesses.
They kill any lioness that's not in estrus. Now I'm worried about the Othawas again, if they are 1 day short of entering estrus, they'll get killed.
This sucks, I can't believe it. The Mapogo aside I don't think I've seen any other males so eager to kill lionesses.
And was this in Djuma? I thought Djuma was too north for them to go.
PCM are dominant over some of my favorite prides and lionesses, doing a great job, but I still can't get to like them one bit.
I totally understand your thoughts here, trust me. It is difficult to watch happen, for sure. The only good thing about their being in the north, and for me it is The only good thing, the Othawas will catch a break from their being in the same general AO.

The PCM were never in my mind as a threat to the Othawa girls (of course that view is now altered). The Mangheni pride was however. Ridge Noses boy was always my concern where the PCM were. But, I tend to agree about the "hard to like" factor. I wonder what it is about the West that makes Males like this... Is it that that area is closed off and you only have to really keep an eye on a 1/3'rd of your sides?
The next thing is that a bunch or all of these girls are going to be pregnant here soon, and we literally will have no idea of the fathers? Did Khanya get there first? K4? The PCM's? I just hope we don't lose anymore lions, but I also feel that is inevitable for the next few months.

I know what you mean. I've had a bit of a grudge against these guys since they killed the Tsalala lioness. But the Birminghams killed lionesses in the Nkuhuma and Styx pride. The Majingilanes killed lionesses. The Nkuhlus have killed a couple of the Sand River lionesses it seems. Unfortunately it's quite common.
