There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Leopard diet in Phinda Game Reserve

"Eighty-six per cent (N = 185) of kills comprised the six herbivore species that we counted. Nyala (N = 94) made up almost half of the carcasses found, followed by impala (N = 34), warthog (N = 22), grey duiker (N = 14), red duiker (N = 11) and reedbuck (N = 10). "

Seems they had a preference for Nyala, which have fairly large males.

i know what predations is..doesn't matter if the leopard wasn't attacking the boar it's an interaction between predator and prey

Predation is usually when the predator kills or is killing the prey. Sometimes, the prey is already killed off by the predator.

Wild Boar are preyed less on in comparison to the other Ungulates. This means that the Wild Boar might be just bugging the Leopard rather than fending it off.

I mean, Leopards also prey on smaller carnivores, but they are not main prey.

If you find a Leopard and small cat or canid snarling at each other, you would put it in an 'interactions' thread or a Leopard subspecies thread rather than a predation thread.

Same goes for the Wild Boar video.

If a Leopard kills or has killed any of these animals, then can it be considered valid predation.

For example, here is a Leopard dragging a Wild Boar kill.

Leopard with Sambar kill.

The Sambar Deer seems pretty large, so it is an adult. Could be a Stag?

Here is a gif of the the Leopard turning over the Sambar Deer carcass just for size comparison.

Sadly enough, the trees and the position of the body make it hard to get a glance of any antlers.

Still, very massive kill. Seems comparable if not bigger than the Kudu killed by Leopards.
