Apollo is huge. In a email I received, they told me that Apollo weighed in a 340 kgs at the age of 15 years old! So that would guarantee him to be well over 800 lb in his prime years (Or in this case 375 kg).

As far as I'm concerned, he is the largest non-obese tiger I know of.

Seems to be in same category as 600 kg lion in one youtube video. I always find it interesting how waza zoos have 100-150 kg lighter big cats when comparing to private sanctuaries etc. Maybe there are more tiger and lion subspecies than people know Wink Normal tigers and "private sanctuary etc. tigers and lions".

Hopefully one day some biologist team could make a scientific study concerning privately owned big cats and weights so, that they could go in these places and make independent weighings. I wonder how many of these big cats would suddenly lose weight just like that Wink

To compare a bit and to show why I´m skeptic, here is an article of another Apollo, liger. He is told to be 705 lbs, 319 kg.

Emaciated lion Jupiter to return home to his human ‘mother’

Quote:"When Jupiter was transferred to the Los Caimanes zoo in the department of Cordoba he weighed 250 kilograms (550 pounds), Torres said. Now, his weight is down to just 90 kilos."

But in April 2019, environmental authorities confiscated Jupiter over a lack of required documentation and accusations that Torres was mistreating hundreds of wild animals, most of which arrived at her sanctuary showing signs of previous mistreatment.

Dramatic pictures of Jupiter have gone viral on social media where a campaign was launched to help him.

I hope the lion is healthy now
