There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

I just wrote and asked what type of lion he was until I saw this.
Very cool looking lion, the congo lion is quite unique.

Before to have seen it, I would never believe that a lion could have such a mane...

Impressive, but when I see it, that makes me the same effect as to see a persian cat or a show cat in relation to a real cat (an alley cat). Something not natural.

climate in czech republic is quite cold...so perhaps this is the reason why the mane is so impressive

Yes quite cold, but I saw many photos and movies showing lions in Siberia, lions in the snow, no one lion was like this one.

so it was probably combination of cold climate and genetic disposition. Result: impressive mane

Zoo Prague is considered to be one of the best in the world. I dont know about any other zoo which has 3 tiger subspecies. On the other hand I dont like this zoo that much - too big, too many visitors. I prefer smaller zoos with more decent atmosphere...
