Not a chance that Nikki is 500lbs, she's not especially large for a lioness and just look at the size of 500lb cats, she's not especially obese and her frame is nowhere near the big boys.

I believe bigcat rescue weighing her in the past and estimating her at 500 to 550 now that she hasn't been weigh in awhile. You can choose not to believe it, but its true.

Plus it is not rare to find a 500 lb lioness

http://www.cnn.com/US/9712/17/lion.loose/
Nala, a 500-pound lion on the loose in the jungle-like landscape of Osceola County, appears ready to come home, but may be too spooked or agitated to return to her cage

http://www.masselks.org/brighton_circus.htm
A 500-pound lioness broke loose in the crowded theater, panicking a standing-room-only crowd of 400 (other sources say 200) and sending them surging for the exits.

Here one of the cat care takers states she is 600 lbs. Sorry for the language by the people in the video.

Said she hasn't been weighed "in a long time" and that's just an estimate. I have just recently seen a 470lb tiger with in 5 feet, she isn't near that size. 500 lb male cat is massive, 500lb female is unheard of outside of a few claims. Just going through all the captive weights I was able to find on lions and tigers, you're able to see just how rare it is for even a male to reach that weight.
Also note that the keeper never said anything about her weight and said the lioness with her before was larger. Which would mean that the lioness prior was 600lbs?

Edit: just noticed your links...
Those are estimates or overexagerations.
One "500 lb lioness" is only 2.5 years of age, another is a newspaper article or circus clipping?
The claim of that lioness at 600lbs is absurd, no offense intended towards you. It's like some of the "850 lb tiger claims" posted here from "caretakers. "

I know we both won't agree on this subject. However bigcat rescue has stated her weight is close to 500 lbs on their website and youtube videos. She is very large and I believe that they have weighed her, why else would they say 500? If it is an estimate why not an estimate of a lionesses average weight. Plus they state she is bigger than the male lions. The video she says she is 600 lbs towards the end, the lady filming asks if she is normal size or exception.

Anyways I've posted a couple places where they state her weight, you can accept it or deny it. Let us move on. If I find anything else on her I'll post it though, might email the rescue. Wish I would have went while we were in Tampa last month lol, my Aunt and Grandma went though, said it was great.

"However bigcat rescue has stated her weight is close to 500 lbs on their website and youtube videos."
Where did you see Big Cat Rescue stating her weight to be 500lbs on their website?
This is all I could find

http://bigcatrescue.org/nikita-3/
"Nikita has flourished under our care.  She has grown into a tall, lanky, healthy lioness. "
Not usually the description of a record lioness

"Plus they state she is bigger than the male lions. "
Where did they state that? A random visitors pintrest is the only place I saw it, the keeper said she is a larger "lioness" not comparable to a male and said that her prior cage mate was larger than she is. Which if she was her alleged weight, that would make the other female a 600lber, which is not likely.

Another interesting note is that Big Cat Rescue has a Tiger named Nikita
NIKITA
Male Siberian Tiger
DOB 8/20/95 – DOD 1/22/15
Rescued 10/21/07

Nakita is a large tiger weighing in at nearly 600 pounds at his prime. He had been raised with Simba, Joseph, and Sasha and the four shared an enclosure prior to coming to Big Cat Rescue. When the group initially arrived they remained together, but over time the tigers and lions became less tolerant of each other.

Joseph and Sasha were given their own spacious enclosure as well as Nakita and Simba. The two pairs lived a glorious life of luxury for many years. Sadly both Simba and Sasha have since passed away leaving behind Nakita and Joseph.
Nakita and Joseph have been moved to neighboring enclosures, but have shown no interest in a reunion. Nakita has undergone eye surgery on both of his eyes. While his eyes appear cloudy he can still see quite well thanks to specialist Dr. Miller.
Nakita is a big swimmer and absolutely loves his time in the Vacation Rotation Enclosure where he can cool off in a large pond or splash in the water fountain. The Vacation Rotation Enclosure is a 2.5 acre playground with lots of trees, a swimming pond, jungle gym platforms, and lots of dens and climbing hills. Each of our lions and tigers is on a rotating schedule and gets to spend two weeks at a time in this fun space.

Obviously he wasn't as large as Shere Khan like one of the keepers estimated, but still very large.

And here is another Nikita tigress claimed to be 500lbs, mate of Baikal, who was said to be 850lbs but much less at time of death, so who knows. Just shows, unless these cats are sedated, put on a veterinarians table and weighed, we really don't know.

Went back to the Mirage Secret Gardens on the way to the Grand Canyon and saw the brother Tiger of the Male I saw last time, he is OLD and frail now but man is he massive. Larger in frame than his brother, Taller for sure, body length is harder to tell. But his head was gigantic, the largest of any cat I've seen there. The male leopard was huge and the female was sleeping so I couldn't get a good look at her. The two lions brothers were sleeping again but look to be not much different than the last time I saw them.

Zoo says that this tiger is 3yo (2years, 9 months)...in february 2016. His weight is 250 kg. I have seen him and I think that 250 kg is reliable.
