Yes, Caatinga jaguars have gone through a process of dwarfism similar to what is witnessed with species who become isolated in small islands. The reason for this is the harsh and prey-scarce habitat they live in. They have no access to large prey to sustain the sizes of neighboring Cerrado jaguars, so in order to survive they must shrink in size to live off of less resources.
