Well, I feel there's no need to show political correctness in scientific forums such as Wildfact Happy

Since Africa don't have tigers,  bears & possible man eating pythons (Anaconda of South America & reticulated pythons South East Asia) I think Asia will outdo Africa when it comes to predators.

The large Katanga, Congo snake (the Remy Van Lierden episode) is just a hoax.

I voted Asia, but in defense of Africa, Asia does not have a big cat that patrols their domain in groups. Happening upon one tiger would be a frightening experience, three or four lions more so. Wolves are excellent hunters but seldom dangerous to people. A cackle of hyenas, maybe ten or maybe forty, is something of a nightmare. As for snakes, the black mamba and the boomslang are no laughing matter. In some of their rivers, you have the Nile crocodile, which, like the salty, will sometimes achieve a ton ( 907 kg ) and is the most predatory crocodile on large herbivores. Perhaps even more dangerous than the crocs, as I believe Pckts mentioned, are the hippos. Asia has nothing to even compare with a hippopotamus. In the Congo river, there is the tiger fish. What I'm saying is, the wildlife of Africa is no joke and the choice of which continent's wild animals should place first is simply opinion - not fact.

I'm surprised that the African buffalo is not on the list - above post.

And to show you how rare it actually is, in Africa you get bit by tsetsee flies all day long and in a extremely rare case you might get "sleeping diesease."
My guide said it's like less than %1 chance

I don't see how a secluded species of lizard that would be prey on the African plains somehow "seals the deal."

Africa has the Nile Monitor, although it hunts much smaller prey.

lol this lizard hunts buffaloes, to survive on African plains you need to live in groups & dragons are not averse to grouping.

The lizard hunts Buffalo cause it can afford to wait for its prey to collapse, that's not happening in Africa. Cape will rally, lions and hyena will hear the commotion and so on.

I personally feel if other smaller monitor lizards can live aside african mammal predators, then there bigger cousins (Komodo dragons) can too.
We have to remember that Komodo dragons being reptiles, they dont need to feed as often as a mammal predator.
It is also stated that these dragons have venom glands in its mouth, so if other predators are going to share its territory with the dragons will remember that.

I agree that they could live there but like monitors I do think they would be prey for crocs, lions, hyena and leopard would prey on youngsters most likely. I was just saying that they wouldn't be apex like they are at home.

Yeah I agree they wont be apex predators for sure.
Monitor lizards generally two types (terrestrial and semi aquatic).
Dragons are terrestrial, so interaction with crocs could be rare.
Dragons are extremely more muscular and heavier than other lizards for its size. What I mean is monitor lizards species in Africa can get upto 2m and Komodos get upto 3m. Eventhough there is around 1m difference, the dragons will weigh atleast 5 times more.
The monitor lizards preyed by lions, hyenas etc are they venomous ? Sorry I dont no about the venom part, If you have more info kindly share.
Young dragons are known to be more arboreal, so they may come in contact with leopards. But I dont no whether young dragons have venom glands powerful enough to discourage an attack from a leopard.
