There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

What Will Cause Human Extinction

During this pandemic when there are limited activities to engage brain, I often use it to think things that is impossible to predict accurately.
Lately I discovered and read about when first human arrived, how modern humans formed and how they spread across world. Seeing life span, I guess human is going to live for now for many years.. may be millions. Or may be some other sub species of human ?

But one day everyone has to go for extinction (Sun in 5 billion years). I am wondering how long human will survive before going to extinction and what could be the possible reason? What other possible species or sub species will take replace human?

Is it also possible we colonize in other planets and able to live more ? Does species from past (dinosaurs etc) lived longer duration due to better basic instincts ? Will human outlive them or we are worst species when it comes to life span duration on earth ?

You know.. many hypothetical questions but these questions increase my faith on things which is beyond science or non science

That is superhard to even contemplate. We've only been around for 500,000 years & our hold or dominance has never been stronger.

Indore population at this point is that no matter what sort of natural or artificial disaster/epidemic happens, extinction isis veryvery unlikely scenario. Anthropogenic Atmospheric Anomaly may cause widespread suffering at best but that won't be enough. Humankind has powered through climate change before, natural ones, while being severely ill-equipped to handle such emergency. Now we have the knowhow, as well as organisational preparations.
No, I am not even when I try to speculate that.

But planet colonization is like flying-cars, lightsabres. Not goona be feasible outside science fiction even if we have the tech due to cost or resource constrain.

Oh yeah, our adaptability makes us super hard to get rid of, like rats or pigs. Especially with our present number and distribution around all corners of the world.

The social dynamics or population may change, but unless we somehow lose all the knowledge acquired in past 100,000 years humans will clamber back to the top & remain a dominant species.

Because of the human civilisation action ( to make money from nothing, Capitalism...), the 6th natural extinction of the Earth history is actually happening. No use here to repeat some tragic facts since the last two centuries.

As concerns the human being, his propension to substitute its order to the natural one, to believe himself as being the strongest, - in a religious way to dispose Nature of his own free will -, will bring him to near extinction. I don't say "total", it will perhaps remain one or two lost survivors with some rats or insects on land, and jellyfishes in the oceans...

Sorry to be as pessimistic as that, but I believe to a natural order, to a swing of the pendulum. And frankly - instead of speaking to conquer a new planet in order to continue our depredation - we don't deserve any better.

Wonderful article.

https://in.yahoo.com/news/earth-accelera...16404.html

"To help understand the rapid ramping-up of the scale of the disaster, the authors said it is estimated that over the course of the entire twentieth century, at least 543 land vertebrate species went extinct."
