If it was only one Avoca, maybe.

Like this? It's not possible, after all why should they? The only reason they're not killing him right there (which doesn't mean they're not going to) is because they seem to know he's weak and not a threat, much like when the young Avoca males didn't finish off the mohawk Matshapiri male. Why bother?

That I don't know.

After a long time, Matimbas have appeared. It looks like they're still doing well. Having the buffalo for dinner. It's really nice to see them again.

7 August
Afternoon Drive
- Headed to the west where we saw one of the MATIMBA males (previously thought to be a majingilane male). He was resting and looked to be a little bit injured.
- Saw the NKUHUMA pride again who were all laying together.

A lone Clarendon Male lion returns to Mala Mala Game Reserve.
We haven't seen this male since the 1st of January 2017 when they were displaced by the Matshapiri coalition.
It's been a whirlwind of male coalitions on the property. In the last month we have viewed the remaining Matshaphiri male, the Avoca coalition, the Marthly coalition, the Gowrie coalition, the Mantimahle coalition, the Manyelethi coalition and now a lone Clarendon male returns. Interesting times lie ahead for the Kambula Pride.
If you wish to see all the Male lions in the Sabi Sands come no further than Mala Mala Game Reserve

Now that's interesting.

Last time the ranger girl saw them together was at that place, but now they're very much separated from each other. I wonder if some challenger coalition attacked and separated them, which could account for HB's injuries.
