There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Sperm Whale brains is the biggest of all sea creature. But orcas brain-weight-to-body-weight ratios is equivalent to chimps. Their dialect is very high level and they can learn new one.
So far all the studies show Orcas have the intelligence level that is completely different than human and even superior in many cases.

Whole family of cetaceans are considered intelligent, but orcas, dolphins, sperm whales, and porpoises are supposed to be smartest.

Few articles I like to suggest

I have read many articles, but I am not sure if some big whales have been studied/observed so much as some others. It can be, that some are smarter as it often is, but I think, that there are many surprising discoveries ahead when these animals are observed and studied more and more. One thing is quite clear, orca is real apex predator of seas. When we think apex predator as species, which isn´t hunted by any other species, not even great white shark can be called apex predator, because there are orcas :)
