There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SALTWATER CROCODILES AND HUMANS IN NORTHERN AUSTRALIA AND TIMOR

This shortish (08:39) video (ABC News in-depth) shows croc attacks are a result of different factors.

Saltwater crocodiles were close to the edge when the Australian government decided to protect them. After about half a century, the result is more crocs in more regions. Although the public was, and still is, educated, attacks happen every year in northern and northeastern Australia.

Timor is very close to Australia. People living in villages near the coast depend on water. Although they are aware of the risks, they, more often than not, have no option but to enter the water to fish. It's their livelyhood. One result is more fishing boats. Another is saltwater crocodiles and people meet more often than before at the water's edge:
