I don’t think they have intentions to kill him atleast yet, not a lot of damage for 3 big males. I think this most likely happened in BRB territory, ever since the new Rongai cubs have been born, BRBs haven’t wandered far, would also make sense for Orkirikoi to find refugee elsewhere atleast for the moment with all the males he’s encountering in his territory.

The vets were called, but with the Black Rockers there, not much can be done unless they are going to tranquilze them all, which in my opinion is the worst option.

They could run them off like they did with the Kaskaz males, obviously I hope they don’t tho.

It definitely looks a lil worse than the video I sent, better angle. Seems the damage is more towards his back end / hips which I think is better than direct damage to mainly his spine. I love Orkirikoi temperament, chasing males by himself even when outnumbered but such instances were always going to happen. He was lucky with Mdogo and Osidai. He chased Lorkulup some months ago when they were both alone, I’d bet on him trying to do the same this time around but all 3 BRBs were together. Hopefully the boys recovers.

Yeah... so many people mad at me on Twitter because I am trying to say that it's really not safe for the people, or the lions to run them off.  It sucks, it's a horrible situation, but this is the way of the wild as it's been for centuries.  Yes, it sucks that this is the Mara and lions are dying to people, but it's highly likely the more pictures I see that Orkirikoi has lost the ability to use his back legs.

More of the damage.  It doesn't look that horrible, but there are a lot of holes down the spine.

I think this was necessary for the 3 BRBs btw, although it’s a shame who it happened to, well it would have been no matter the male, but I got a soft spot for Orkirikoi. They will need to rely on each other in future battles and it won’t be as one sided as 3 against 1 everytime. I think this altercation will bring them closer together than ever.

Honestly I feel some ppl need to get a better sense of reality, and I partly blame veterinary intervention for some ppl to have such mindsets. As I believe @BA0701 was saying yesterday, and u again today, these things aren’t nice to see but it’s how the world works, this is normality. I just seen a few comments talking about why the 3 BRBs haven’t been tranquillised so they can care for Orkirikoi as fast as possible, which in the nicest terms, is crazy as.. I think u know what I mean. U can’t endanger 3 healthy males just for sake of one.

Yeah... Last time they darted Lorkulup it almost killed him.  The vets have already said that they won't do it again, no matter what.

Second time trying to send this, first time Wildfact somehow deleted my reply before I sent it.. talk about being ungrateful.

For real tho, today was a crazy day in the Mara. Kaskaz males chased away a nomadic male from their kill, he was lucky not to get caught like the Paradise Boys, maybe it was one of his brothers. Inselberg males are said not to be ‘too far away’ from the BRBs after crossing the Mara River too. Said to be in the Survey Area. Oh and to add onto the Orkirikoi situation, Kaskaz males are also said to be around 2km away, so not a current threat to him like the BRBs, but even if he was to get away, he’s not fully in the clear

Those Inselberg males are monsters.  They almost look like Captive lions they are so big and their manes so intense.

That is simply crazy talk, and makes no sense. I might suggest some people start following bunnies, but, those little guys can get pretty brutal as well, so, perhaps create a group for stuffed bunnies. Of course, I am referring to the people who are suggesting the darting of three healthy males, for the treatment of one injured male.

There are people on those threads suggesting it would be easy to fire bullets into the air, or drive in with vehicles to disperse them, or even yes.  Dart them to get in and treat Orkirokoi.  A few even saying it's justice for Olobor.  I mean.. we live in idiot times.

All I can be is thankfull that those people are not the ones running the reserve, and I can see why

Well.. I guess the question now is... what are the true damages to Orkirkoi?  And did the guides just push these boys right into the Inselbergs?  I mean.. where does it stop.. Now put fences up around the territories?
