There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
According to Cedric the Nkuhuma Pride is in the lodge in Chitwa near the pools and near Room 7, so maybe the Kambulas are also with them as they are busy mating this morning.
Ridge Nose's daughter on WildEarth Sunset safari yesterday, with K5 and K3.

Maybe she can renamed something to do with her ear. Better than just referring to her as 'Ridge Nose's daughter'. Although of course her sister/cousin was called 'Torn Ear'.
So quick question is it just their genetics for the reason pale eyes and purple eyes sons where/are so small purple eyes two boys a lot smaller and undeveloped compared too chelas boy who was younger and then pales eyes son he’s kinda small for a 3 year old male or is it just stress potentially?

Not sure how much stress plays a role in overall size development, but it can play a role in mane development, as has been seen countless times. I believe PCM son, in the Nkuhuma Breakaways, is a great example of this. From a very young age, you could see his body size was going to be really big, and when his mother was alive, his mane developed really quickly too. After his mother's passing, his body size developed at around the same pace, but his man has fallen off. He is a really big boy, for a male his age, and once things settle in for him, I would expect his mane to rebound as well.

Floppy Ear is another example of this, after he realised that he was never gonna be a member of the pride long term, and started focusing on separating himself, his mane really started to develop nicely for his young age. I, too, agree that stress prolly doesnt play any role in overall size, I think that’s purely genetics combined with the size of the pride. More pride members usually = less food on the table for everyone else, especially the younger members.

Very true and I think it’s situational too like it was the nkuhuma breakaways it’s only 3 lions on one kill now only 2 rather than the nkuhuma pride of what 7+ lions less food per meal also I guess genes too right matimahle and matimba vs matimba and avoca and avocas never really big time huge males but average I guess so could that play a factor as well?
It’s not a given that males will be as big as their fathers, Avocas / Giraffes were huge but out of all N/S Avocas, only Darkmane would prolly be a similar size to them. I sometimes wonder if the fact Avoca Pride was a breakaway from Giraffe Pride had anything to do with those males not being as big as their sires, as surely there must have been relation between the mothers and fathers to some degree, ofc on a broader scale, most of those lions are somewhat related but maybe not as closely as Avoca / Giraffe males and the Avoca females.
Anyways, I also heard a story about a fight in Botswana between two lions, one being a direct son from 1/5 Selinda males (original coalition of Sekekama and TornNose along with their brothers) and an unknown male. The known male, named Phakara, was said to be ‘noticeably smaller’ in a guides own words, yet the Selinda boys were the biggest males around. Just goes to show u can’t necessarily inherit size.
