N'waswitshaka males
|
We found one of the N’waswishaka male lions and one of the Kambula lionesses mating, but after they noticed some vultures flying and descending in the distance, they followed them in a haste. The vultures were surrounding a kudu carcass and quickly chased them off and started to feed.

Doesn't look fragile at all to me, he looks like he is in his normal condition, with his atrophied backlegs 
Its a fragile but normal look seeing their situation.
Keep in mind they are not with their pride at the moment. So they have to hunt for themselves. Which may be complicated by mating, (which is a good drain in fitness) and a unfamiliarity with the area.
??? What's fragile about their look ? Ubuso has always been like this, even with the prides and the other N'was looked normal in that photo.
It's not the first time they aren't with their pride and it has always been fine for them, and the familiarity of an area has nothing to do with appareance. Agreed, they seem very resilient, but I believe the fragile comments are reference to the image @Tonpa posted, and he is looking very thin in the hind quarters. We've seen lions rebound from far worse condition, HB and Ginger for instance, so perhaps fragile was a bad choice, but the comment in Tonpa's post saying they could use a meal seemed spot on. Yeah but the image Tonpa posted the the footage I posted are around the same time, which makes me think that it's just the position that makes his hind quarters so thin and that he is in his normal condition

I know, using HB in another reference, but in the beginning of his final days he was quite thin, but there were some images floating around that made him appear like he was literally skin and bones, but when he stood up it was not as bad as those images made it appear. Of course as he began to lose his pride his condition worsened, but I am specifically referring to the early stages, when he was still hanging with some of the subs. Nwas' are a very strong and resilient coalition, I'd expect them all to be fine for quite some time yet, they all have some sort of injury that they are dealing with, and they continue to thrive. In my first HB and Ginger reference I was referring to when they first returned to SS, they were very thin at that time. An internal hernia is one thing, and one can live with those, but one protruding outside of the skin like that is something else entirely.
