I recently have become intrigued by the lions of Sabi Sands after stumbling across a video about the famous Mapogo coalition on YouTube. I've been doing a lot of research and could not find a good map outlining the territories of the current coalitions in Sabi Sands. I made a quick, very vague outline map of where I believe the current coalitions to be in control of. I did not make this to show you definitively where they are, but rather in hopes that some of the more knowledgeable people on this forum tell me if I am on the right track to understanding the lands that these coalitions control. Thank you!

Side note: I was very confused about the young Avoca males territory in particular. I heard that they recently moved into the Southern Pride territory after allegedly, they unknowingly tracked and hunted the same buffalo herd as the pride. It was said they eventually killed the cubs from the Charleston males who we're not present in the area.

@Tshokwane  WOW I’m surprised the 5 mantinmahle male lion territory is relatively small compared to the others.

This map may not be accurate. I posted it only to have others with more knowledge critique it. However, I do know that the portion of Sabi Sands that the Mantimahle currently control is in addition to a vast amount of territory they control in Kruger National Park.

Like he said, most of their actual land is in the Kruger park.

Btw, one other coalition I would add there, along with the Avoca males, are the Tsalala males. They currently spend time between Lion sands and Kikrman's kamp.

The Tsalala males were chased off by the Avoca males(I think they managed to catch one alone) and were mating with a Sparta female. Photos of the Tsalala males.

Looks like 11 sub-adults are together. Earlier there was one sub-adult seen separately not sure he is 12 one or joined rest of them and formed 11.

Last night we had eleven sub-adult lions following the scent of a big herd of buffalo but this morning they were found without any sign of a successful hunt.

A sub adult lion was seen walking around in the northern stretches of our reserve, contact calling for the rest of the pride. We are not sure as to who this lion is.
