Good to see he is bouncing back. Not sure what he was afflicted with, but whatever the vets did seems to have helped.

On one hand I’m so happy, this really improves his chances, especially considering he ate food after the treatment. On the other hand tho, the vets have possibly just saved a key member in the strongest coalition in Savuti. How is that fair for the surrounding lions? It would make sense if it was a HWC but Sekoti had no exterior injuries. I’m extremely intrigued to find the reason for vet care.

Yeah I'm also very conflicted by this. While I am happy that a life was saved, as you said, humans aiding the recovery of such a powerful coalition from a natural disturbance may have implications for the surrounding lions. It might also create a unhealthy and unsustainable precedent whereby the ranges will now be expected to treat pretty much every naturally injured/sick lion within their traversing area.

Nobody I follow / talk to knows why he was treated which is furthering my belief in thinking that something is possibly being covered up. No matter what it was, for now these boys are definitely trying to expand with the coalition most in danger being Tsunami and Gaam who control Marsh Pride, and are around 13 years old now so I don’t think Sekoti makes much difference. When they eventually lose the pride, the Renegades will be the most likely victors of that area. We’ll see if vet treatment becomes common over there, I personally hope it doesn’t unless the injuries are man made.

Botswana is really confusing for lion dynamics, I'm not sure if these boys are different to the 'Sons of Destruction' but both are referred to as a Khwai Coalition, or they are indeed these boys, just imagine there were still the 5 Khwai males, sons of the 5 Selindas, who were all alive too. Anyways, I heard one of the Kwhai coalitions has been described as '7 males,' it's these boys in the video, but only 5 are consistently spotted, prolly a similar situation to the 6 Mayambula males in KNP, as they are often referred to, eventhough only the same 5 are constantly spotted. Ofcourse maybe this has just really confused me and both coalitions are the same but it's hard to know since I don't know the exact area they roam nor who fathered the coalition(s). I've heard one set of Khwai males may have been sired by the the OG 5 Khwai males who are sons of the 5 Selindas, but it's never been confirmed. Anyways, for the sake of myself and my own brain capacity, I would love if they start to rename some of these coalitions so we don't get the same names over and over again. They obviously don't have much reason to with their lions not being tracked anywhere near as frequently against lions of KNP / Greater KNP or Masai Mara etc.

Pretty Boy II of the Renegade Coalition / Northern Alliance chilling with some of his cubs. His brother Romeo was also messing around with some of their subadult sons.

I’ve said before that there was atleast 3 older cubs / subadult males in the Northern Pride, but it seems like there’s quite a few more, even possibly accumulating to 6. One thing about Botswana, they make their coalitions big over there and especially in their bloodline that runs through them. Hoping the best for these boys!

I’ve seen the video but think it might have been deleted as it was years old or something, still if I find it anytime soon I’ll link it below here. Anyways, as the tweet says this was the altercation that led to Sekekama and TornNose splitting from their brothers. I’m not one to necessarily say everything ‘happens for a reason.’ but if Sekekama and TornNose really are gone, and seeming as it’s been more than a year since they were last seen, it just seems right how both these brothers left the world together. That right there is the kind of loyalty that very few animals and ppl alike will ever experience and in my opinion, the reason they were so successful.

I was just a lil bored and decided I was going to go back through this thread and I don't think I paid enough attention to the other brothers in this photo. As we know Sekekama and TornNose ended up being great males, both in looks and size but it's clear to me they weren't the most impressive of the coalition. That dark maned male furthest to the right was the dominant male of the coalition and was 'first on the scene' when the 5 Selindas started to takeover. Aside from the obvious abundance of darkness in his mane compared to his other brothers, atleast in the photo, look how thick his mane is compared to them aswell. It's actually kinda crazy how successful we already know Sekekama and TornNose become and that's without knowing what happened to their 3 older brothers. They could easily be the most successful coalition atleast known to me if the other brothers were indeed successful.

Was meant to send this yesterday, seemed like a slow day for me tho.. mentally that is Laughing

1/2 fathers of Sekekama and TornNose. This one here is Silver Eye, his partner was called Romeo. After Silver Eye disappeared in 2009, Romeo ended up staying a territorial male up until 2014, until he was ousted by the 5 Chobe males. It’s been said the guides knew him well as he was always fighting, I guess he had to being a lone male trying to keep his pride.

Golden boys, there’s another video of one of the boys bringing down a baby elephant but the link doesn’t work, maybe cos it’s deemed a sensitive video on IG.

And so it begins once again, let’s see if they stick around to claim Marsh Pride this time.

It's weird that these renegades dont try to expand northwards, eastwards or westwards but yet they're going southward to their natal pride.

Maybe they'll go "Souther" than their natal pride in the south
