Mvabala/Vin Diesel male leopard. He was born in 2004 and is ususally found in the Kruger gate area of kruger and also in the Sabi sands.
He is a huge leopard, weights around 90 kg, and carries himself with that swag that dominant leopards have along with his pearcing eyes that look right through you. The first time I saw him, my instinctive reaction was WOW, this lad is a tank...

I actually think that Vin Diesel male has been weighed at over 90 kg. they say that on his facebook page, I´ll ask them about it.
-would not be surprised if he weighed that much

yeah a hyena would have a bad day after a clash with this guy for sure, but it's not easy for the leopard neither I can assure you that. hyenas are underestimated animals, and leopards are careful arround them.

-I've seen hyenas survive attacks from multiplie lionesses and even male lions. unlike the leopard the hyena can't lay on his back defending with all paws, so they get beaten up badly bitten in the back, neck, throat everywhere and still survives, so it would take a real leopard to finish off a hyena for sure. leopards are defenatly the better fighter and has a better weaponary, but I finishing a hyena off, which 3 lionesses sometimes can't... That's challenge

but let's stay on toppic

I definitely agree that leopards are careful around hyenas, as they should be. Teeth and jaws..... you better be careful or you'll get a nasty bite.

But....

You've also seen leopards survive attacks from 4 lioness and male lions and actually inflict more damage than taken.
And you've seen lions (male and female) kill hyena with a single bite so either side of the coin can be chosen, but yes back to the topic at hand.

as I said the leopard has a much better defence than hyenas, but that dosen't ofcourse take away any creds from the leopard which is an amazing survivor.

well I've seen male lions kill hyenas in a flash, but lionesses? no there are a few videos I think 3 of lionesses killing hyenas and all struggles for a long time. hyenas are one of the most durable animals out there.

but let's finish off.

As I have Said many times before. a big male leopard would have the advantage over a hyena, leopards are extremely durable aswell.

A leopard could Lock a hyena up from using it's Jaw

yeah I have seen that video before, but we can't how long the battle has been going on. but ofcourse a lioness can kill a hyena.
I would put my money on all big cats against a hyena, only the leopard is for me a 50/50 against a large dominant hyena, smaller hyenas no problem for a male leopard and smaller leopards are dominated by hyenas.

but yes I get why everyone favour the leopard.... I get it big time! it's an amazing animal a great fighter and survivor, but cat's are not so dominat and suprime over other carnivores when the same size as many seems to think IMO. even though I really aslo think that cat's are the most interesting and my clear favorites.
draw against a Large spotted hyena is no shame. I will never change my mind on that.

haha I'll try not to answer you're next reply @Pckts but I really find these kind of dicussions enjoyable, when it's not so heated and aggressive.

Agreed, I enjoy them as well as long as its realistic which yours usually are. But we have to tippy toe a bit here which is for the best I believe.
We both know how eachother feel and we will leave it at that.

Tingana seen at Arathusa, 01.06.15

26 minutes of Tingana, If you just watch the video, they also talk about his relationship with Anderson, who apperently is pushing Tingana away! They have met a couple of times, without any big fight. Just sizeing eachother up, would love to see how a fight between these two would play out!

Mafufunyane Male Leopard

*This image is copyright of its original author

Mafufunyane/Gowrie Male/ Son of Paradise Valley Female
One of the greatest Leopards to ever live, he was an awsome individual, and he will be missed. One of my favorites aswell!
He was born in MalaMala in 1998 with a brother, and he was sired by another well know individual called, Tjololo aka. Rock Drift Male.

The word Mafufunyane means aggressive or the angry one. And he was given this name for good reason. He was a real badass, and everybody here has probably seen his amazing fight with Tyson (Marthly Male). He was born latter part of 1998 in MalaMala.

Some of his distinguished features include a short round muzzle, and a spot pattern in the shape of a smiley face (Ironic, huh!) on his left front shoulder area.

At the time Mafufaneyane came in to the Gowri area (Northern Sabi Sands) there were other big males already living in there, one of the was Xivati/Shivati who was know as one of the absolute biggest and most powerful males in Sabi Sands at the time. Mafufunyane had many fights to take over this territory, since then he became more habituated to people and game drive vehicles. Mafufunyane eventually became the dominant male of a large territory in Sabi Sands.

Other interesting observations:
- He is speculated to be Karula`s (Female) father, and it also seems as if he kept an eye on Karula when she raised Thandi and Tingana (Her first litter). Although Jordaan (Male) is rumoured to be their father (Due to certain face features, not DNA tested)

-In 2008 he was seen twice alongside Jordaan when Karula was in oestrus. This was before the birth of her Second litter-Induna and Mixo. Both males showed respect towards eachother.

-It was often reported that he let his females offspring to follw him on patrole, and feed of his kills.

-His absolute favourite prey was Warthogs, and that left a few marks over the years. Twice in 2008 he was spotted with cuts on his body, that was caused by warthogs.

When he died I don`t know, but I know that there were sightings of him post 2011. So he became quite an old Leopard.
