They are plagued by the same issues as the mapogos were. A coalition to large to sustain itself leading to lots of internal conflict and frustration which then gets vented on the Lionesses.
The Mapogos probably just had the fortitude to have more food available to keep the worst of the starvation at bay or it just wasn't reported as much as online animal tracking wasn't as much of a thing back then. But ultimately the end result was the same, the Mapogo coalition over time fell apart into two smaller coalitions and the same seems to be happening now. Luckily for now with a lot less collateral damage this time.

I would not pick any of the Nwas, Gijimas, or the PCMs to defeat or unseat any of the others, at the moment, they are all equally matched. I think the PCMs and the Nwas see the Kambulas as an easier conquest, than going after one another. But, whoever is confronting the Kambulas the moment they get their confidence behind them is going to also have a very big problem on their hands.

As much as I love the Kambula boys, I have to agree. These three duos (four if you include the Mantimahle males) are injecting some much needed genetic diversity into Sabi Sands, as well as helping to bring the Ximungwe and Southern Prides back from the brink of extinction. Of course all that goes out the window if they abandon them.

Absolutely. For quite a long time, SS has largely been dominated by coalitions originating from the Timbavati, even as far back as when the Majingilane still ruled the West. As long as these Kruger-born duos ensure their progeny survive to reproduce, the genetic diversity of the SS lion population will only improve from here.
Brothers don't always have the same mane growth, especially in their early adult days. Just look at Three-Tooth (K5) and his Kambula brothers, or the two southern Black Dam males. Mandevu got his name because he had noticably more mane than Ncile or Lambile, but I don't think he's necessarily older than Ncile.
