There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Good after noon Dr. Habib, I was emailing you in regards to the article stating that gabbar weighed 185kg and Choti Tara weighed 85kg?

Both weights seem very small for such large looking adult cats, I was just wondering if those weights were correct and verified?
Thanks for your time,
Regards

Thanks for the confirmation @Pckts, I am going to add these weights to the list:

1. Ustad-Ranthambore: 240 kg.
2. Gabbar-Tadoba: 185 kg.
3. Choti Tara-Tadoba: 85 kg.

To be sincere, the two weights of the males perfectly fit in the range of 180-258 kg from Mazák (1981) and 175-260 kg from Karanth (2003). However, the weight of 85 kg for a mainland female is too low, and in fact, it should be a red light. The smallest mainland tigress on record is the female T-115 "Chuchchi" from Nepal, which in its last capture weighed only 98 kg, but it was old and in that moment she was "emaciated and had badly worn canines. She was at least 15.5 years old" (Seidensticker, 1988).

Only Sundarbans tigresses are known to weight about 75-80 kg. Do you know if Choti-Tara has or had cubs?

Only one thing. I think that you add images in your post, right? Could you post them again? I can't see it.
