Another topic of interest is strange disappearances. David Paulides, author of several
books on the subject, details his investigations and offers plausible insight into some
of the strangest and most mysterious disappearances ever documented. A good read,
no doubt. The number of people who disappear without a trace each year is shocking.
Most are solved or explained away, but - like ufo's - there's a percentage of cases that
simply defy logical explanation.

Here's a good one. Police in Espanola, New Mexico are trying to figure out what
was  caught on their station security cameras. A human shaped, translucent figure
strolled across a locked area of the station Saturday night. Officer Karl Romero, on
duty, who saw the figure, stated there's no way to enter or leave without opening
security gates that would trip an alarm. This was reported 2 hours ago on ABC news
Good Morning America. Interesting

In modern days, it is very easy to create fake photos and fake videos. Many of the cases reported in Youtube and in the popular media are in fact false.

I still remember that famous video of an eagle grabbing a little baby in front of the parents. The video looks real, but at the end, it was just a fraud, a hoax.

Guys, what do you think about the reports of the large black cats in Europe? Those great cats are one of my favorites cryptids.

Watched a documentary on this a while back. There've been claims in the US of large black cats also. Skeptics abound
on this subject. Particularly the claims in the UK. Pawprints attributed to these cats have been debunked as dog prints.
Partially devoured farm animals have revealed - in some cases - canine predation, instead of feline. If there really is a
breeding population of large wild cats in these locales, evidence will surface.

You're absolutely correct in regards to doctored photos polluting the internet. A flipside of social media, unfortunately.
But not all can be disregarded. A percentage are still genuine mysteries, yet to be explained.

That is true Chaos, and those unexplainable pictures are those that intrigue me. Some of them are even scary, specially when no logic explanation can be made, at first sight, at least.

About the great cats, it is true, some of them are dog attacks, specially in USA, but those of UK, well, the paw prints found are of cats of the same size than those of a leopard. About the videos, well, some of them looks like domestic cat and the perspective is deceive, but testimonies of people and the form of death of some farm animals seems to be like the way of kill of a large cat. This intrigue me, although I most confess too, that knowing so much about great cats, is very hard to believe that a population of these animals actually exist in such a low density in that area.

Perhaps these sightings are of escaped or released cats by exotic animal collectors from the area. I recall such a case over
a decade ago in Jackon, NJ not more than 15 miles from my residence in which a full grown tiger escaped and was then shot
and killed by authorities.

There was rampant speculation as to who was responsible for the missing cat, Six flags Great adventure or Joan - Byron
Marasek, who operated a tiger reserve just several miles away. It was determined to be Joans cat and her operation was
eventually shut down. In a more remote region, a big cats chances of surviving outdoors for an extended period of time
are much greater.

Another intriguing topic is the question of who or what's behind cattle mutilations. This phenomenon
is quite well documented and numbers over ten thousand worldwide. These mutilations are often
associated with bizarre circumstances attached. No surrounding tracks, carcasses completely drained
of blood, and most curious - the precision, surgical removal of certain organs. A compelling mystery.
Theories range from natural causes to government conspiracies. Ufo - extraterrestial involvement
has also been claimed. I see no plausible explanation.

Frederick ValentichFrederick Valentich had about 150 total hours flying time and held a class four instrument rating which authorized him to fly at night but only "in visual meteorological conditions". He had twice applied to enlist in the Royal Australian Air Force but was rejected because of inadequate educational qualifications. He was a member of the Air Training Corps, determined to have a career in aviation. Valentich was studying part-time to become a commercial pilot but had a poor achievement record, having twice failed all five commercial licence examination subjects, and as recently as the previous month had failed three more commercial licence subjects. He had been involved in flying incidents, straying into a controlled zone in Sydney, for which he received a warning, and twice deliberately flying into cloud, for which prosecution was being considered. According to his father Guido, Frederick was an ardent believer in UFOs and worried about attacks from UFOs.[2]DetailsValentich radioed Melbourne Flight Service at 7:06 PM to report an unidentified aircraft was following him at 4,500 feet and was told there was no known traffic at that level. Valentich said he could see a large unknown aircraft which appeared to be illuminated by four bright landing lights. He was unable to confirm its type, but said it had passed about 1,000 feet (300 m) overhead and was moving at high speed. Valentich then reported that the aircraft was approaching him from the east and said the other pilot might be purposely toying with him. Valentich said the aircraft was "orbiting" above him and that it had a shiny metal surface and a green light on it. Valentich reported that he was experiencing engine problems. Asked to identify the aircraft, Valentich radioed, "It isn't an aircraft" when his transmission was interrupted by unidentified noise described as being "metallic, scraping sounds" before all contact was lost.[3][4][1]Search and rescueA sea and air search was undertaken that included oceangoing ship traffic, a P-3 Orion aircraft, plus eight civilian aircraft. The search encompassed over 1,000 square miles. Search efforts ceased on 25 October 1978.[3]InvestigationA Department of Transport (DOT) investigation into Valentich's disappearance was unable to determine the cause, but that it was "presumed fatal" for Valentich.[2] Five years after Valentich's plane went missing, an engine cowl flap was found washed ashore on Flinders Island. In July 1983 the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation asked The Royal Australian Navy Research Laboratory (RANRL) about the likelihood that the cowl flap might have "traveled" to its ultimate position from the region where the plane disappeared. The bureau noted that "the part has been identified as having come from a Cessna 182 aircraft between a certain range of serial numbers" which included Valentich's aircraft. The bureau also noted that while it is possible for cowl flaps to separate from aircraft in flight, this had not happened with any recent aircraft.[citation needed]Proposed explanationsIt has been proposed that Valentich staged his own disappearance: even taking into account a trip of between 30 and 45 minutes to Cape Otway, the aircraft still had enough fuel to fly 800 kilometres;[5] despite ideal conditions, at no time was the aircraft plotted on radar, casting doubts as to whether it was ever near Cape Otway;[6] and Melbourne Police received reports of a light aircraft making a mysterious landing not far from Cape Otway at the same time as Valentich's disappearance.[6]Another proposed explanation is that Valentich became disoriented and was flying upside down. What he thought he saw, if this were the case, would be his own aircraft's lights reflected in the water. He would then have crashed into the water.[7]Another proposed possibility is suicide, although it has been suggested that he had a content lifestyle.[8]A 2013 review of the radio transcripts and other data by astronomer and retired U.S. Air Force pilot James McGaha and author Joe Nickell proposes that the inexperienced Valentich was deceived by the illusion of a tilted horizon for which he attempted to compensate and inadvertently put his plane into a downward, so-called "graveyard spiral" which he initially mistook for simple orbiting of the plane. According to the authors, the G-forces of a tightening spiral would decrease fuel flow, resulting in the "rough idling" reported by the pilot. McGaha and Nickell also propose that the apparently stationary, overhead lights that Valentich reported were likely the planets Venus, Mars, and Mercury along with the bright star Antares which would have behaved consistent with the pilot's description.[2]UFOlogists

This case remains one of the great mysteries in Australian aviation. Seen a bit on the tele profiling this case a ways back.

Looks like nothing to me, then they pan out and I see even more of nothing.
People in the water seem unpreturbed as well.
