"On this day on 26 March 1898, exactly 123 years ago, the Kruger National Park was conceived when the "Government Game Reserve" was promulgated. This broadly comprised the area south of the Sabie River and the western boundary was more west than it is today. After the South African War ended in 1902 and the Sabi Game Reserve was proclaimed and in 1903 the Shingwedzi Reserve. In 1926 the Kruger National Park was proclaimed."
