She probably pulled most of the weight hunting. Though the males should have no issue hunting on their own.
I hope she is alright and just went home though. If Gingerella could find her way home all the way from Kruger, I dont see no reason why she couldnt do the same.

"Shed probably pulled most of the weight hunting", based on? Ok i guess. Males can be better than females at hunting big prey such as buffalo, much better.
Just like u said, they will have no issues hunting with or without her.
Lionesses are typically better hunters than the males as they are more well rounded hunters. Only when hunting buffalo the males have an advantage as they are the few prey that require brute strenght. So if that was the only food source I concede, but I doubt it.
In any case. The idea that she contributed nothing is far fetched as well.
