Most bears are very capable predators, when needed. In that way there is no significant difference between for instance polar bears and brown bears. But of course brown bears have evolved in different environment and have many other food choices than polar bears, so they hunt mostly after hibernation when too early to find so much other food sources. So it is not so much about capability to do something, but about it, that what is needed in different times of the year. Reply
