In the Russian far east and Northeast China ( Manchuria ) the tiger, for tens of thousands of years, has been the top predator. To the aboriginal Manchu-Tungus people tigers are the masters of the taiga. In the Amur-Ussuri region the Nanay, Udege, Orochi and Ulchi peoples revered Amba, the tiger, as a totemic animal.
Udege were often called 'Tiger people'. Natives were so much in awe of the tiger that they did not even dare mention its name. How heavy is the largest contemporary wild Amur tiger? Is it still the 212 kg one or has the weight increased?

When it comes to very large tigers from modern times, Bengal tigers get most of the attention now, but looking at more and more recent camera trap photos and videos from the Russian far east and Northeast China, they show that there are some huge male Amur tigers that easily rival the size of huge male Bengal tigers. Modern Amur tigers size is underrated by many people. Amur tiger biologists and researchers have not captured a large sample ( conclusive ) of full-grown healthy male tigers and weighed them, their samples included some young males and some emaciated, unhealthy animals. If modern biologists actually weighed a conclusive amount of full-grown healthy adult male tigers, I would confidently put my money on it, that the average would be over 200 kg for modern Amurs. I have no doubt. And if some modern Amur tigers are still reaching very large sizes today, despite suffering from severe prey depletion, then imagine the sizes of tigers a century ago, when prey was far more abundant. I could easily see those reported 300+kg wild Amur tigers back then.

He has a plot of several tens of kilometers with an abundance of food - and that's enough. By the way, after checking the first 35 camera traps of Anyui National Park in April this year, 19 of them were spotted with tigers. This is a good indicator.
