There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

That lion was incorrectly measured, it is "young adult" and there is no way that he could measure even close to 300 cm "between pegs".

Like I explained before, those lions from Hobatere are short and fat, all of them were measured "over curves" from the teeth (not even the nose!) following all the curves of the body, giving completelly unreliable results.

I presented a long explanation about the unreliable form that the measurements of the Hobatere lions were taken, please check this link, post No. 3: https://wildfact.com/forum/topic-lion-an...er-heights

Check also this topic, posts 53 and 57: https://wildfact.com/forum/topic-modern-...ons?page=4

We have a list of 152 male lions measured "between pegs" from East and Southern Africa and none surpass the 114 cm and all are adult males and the largest captive male lion in history, a real giant, did not surpassed the 112 cm (Simba lion). Plus, from a list of 134 adult males measured "between pegs", the longest specimen measured 218 cm in head-body (South Africa), and even from the other 63 adult males measured "along the curves" in modern scientific litterature, the longest one was of 209 cm in head-body (Zimbabwe). Hope this helps to clarify the status of the report.
