I think you judge them purely through their competition with Mbiris. I do not think you should. Mbiris are just different kind of best. Even strong, confident duo like Mapozas and Ross in confrontation with Mbiris looked skittish. My point is that they were no match for Mbiris doesn't mean at all they won't be able to compete with other coalitions.
"Males who are nomads pretty much whole their adult life or are on the run since young days in most cases lack confidence and are avoiding conflicts.. "
It doesn't seem to be the case there. There wasn't much updates on Hercules pride in the past 2 years, but I assume Sumatra was the lone dominant male all the way to when he appeared in Orpen Gate and then right away he too Skorro pride he wasn't really nomadic unless he was chassed of Hercules pride a bit ealier and spent a bit time as nomad before he showed himself at Orpen Gate. Anyway he definitelly wasn't nomad for his entire life, but in fact for just a little part of it. Hercules male obviously was with him all that time enjoying his life with natal pride at least for most of a time.
No, they where also chased by Nharhus, and they passed thru Orpen males, Ross males an Mapoza/Xikukutsus territory to return in their "natal" area where they where before..
But maybe they are just testing waters, for now..
Is Sumatra dominant majority of his life?
He became dominant in April 2017 with Ross breakeaway females at the age of 5, 5.5 prob .. Then in early 2018 with Hercules pride, but after that we have 0 info that he was dominant male, as BDM was pushing deeper into his area, sightings of both Sumatra and Hercules prides where almost 0..so we dont know how long Sumatra was dominant over in Klaserie,if he was..
Ok, maybe my point wasnt exactly on point for those 2, because we dont know what was Sumatra doing since mid 2018 - mid 2019, i agree..
