"A nice photo taken by Licinia Machado photography. Diamond Face was a strong male. No one really knows what happened to him but he was in poor condition just before he disappeared in 2015. He had a discolated hip/bad leg and his condition deteriorated quite a bit. He couldn't keep up with his two brothers so he mostly stayed on his own with the Sand River pride. He was a formidable male and a very successful male too. He ruled Maroela Loop with his two brothers for a good few years. The 3 Toulon males are called Dominant Toulon, Shy Toulon and Diamond Face. The remaining two Toulon males are still a force to be reckoned with even though they are 12 years old."

"Eckson saw the Toulon males a few days ago in Kirkman's Kamp. The two Toulon males dominate Maroela Loop and the Eastern part of Lion Sands KNP. They are the pride males of the Sand River pride which consists of 3 adult females and 5 sub adults. The Toulon males have dominated the Maroela Loop area since 2010/11 but over the last 7 months the remaining two Toulon males have been spending most of their time with the Sand River pride in the Sabi Sands area. It looks like they are feeling the pressure from younger males in the Maroela Loop area. It will be interesting to see which males takeover the Maroela Loop area in the next year or so. The Toulon males are 12 years old now."
