There is no increase in the population of Gir Forest as it is now fully crowded but there is a continuous increase outside Gir

Lions are becoming more friendly for hunting livestock

Gir Forest is spread 1412 sq km area. Of which 258 square km area is National Park which is very crowded. Not only the population of the lions, but the Gir forests are crowded because of the leopards and other predators with one of highest leopard concentration or density in the world.

Lions in this area are inevitably reducing. An official says on condition of anonymity, National Park has not cut in the last 30 years. Here are only 30 to 50 lions. More than 180 lions live in the Revenue area. However, the last census was in the total area of 523 lions in 20,000 sq. Km. area and after that recently, it is confirmed that 600 lions officials said, at the time of the CDV lions death, after vaccination.

2. According to a retired official who worked with lions for years, one lion need 24 km2 for the habitation. In such a way, the Gir forest still very small for the current lion numbers. In 2015 census, 523 lions were registered. There are few areas in the Gir sanctuary and in the thick areas of the National Park, there is very little human presence. Girnar's mountainous area can be excluded from direct transit of lions.

Therefore, they have to find a place to live where the grasslands are found. Therefore, the only solution to get out of the forest is not increasing the population if the forest is not suitable, then it must find out the outer path.

According to an official of forest department, lions living in Girnar live in the rainbow rounds ranging from the purple ranges in the north mountain ranges to prevent mosquito nuisance in the monsoon. Because, the winds in this area are good. At the same time, there are more mosquito nuisance as there are less winds in the areas of South Dungar range.
