A fantastic sighting this week of the Jacaranda pride. Not only did they make a young hippo kill but they fought a single male lion(the Birmingham male, one of the fathers of the young Birmingham boys) from the klasserie that tried to take their kill away.
Even though the one male lion from the Klasserie was outnumbered by 4 males and 3 females he still tried to chase the pride away from their hippo kill. Eventually the males from the Jacaranda pride went after the single male and started to fight.
The single male was pushed down for a couple of minutes and eventually chased away.

Although from some years back, a great sighting. 
And one that shows, once again, the importance of a coalition for the males, with the sub-adults of the pride, three of them with almost bare heads still, over powering an adult male that must have been dozens of kg heavier than them. Reply
