Sumatran tigers:

KAITLYN PROFILE:

• Female Sumatran tiger
  

• 5 years old and weighs 76.2kg
  

• Arrived at Australia Zoo in March 2008 from Taman Safari Indonesia with Bashii and Maneki – her brother and sister
• All three tigers are very valuable, not only to Australia Zoo but to the entire global captive breeding program
  

• The siblings were the first cubs to be exported out of Indonesia in 30 years
  

• Descending from wild tigers, Kaitlyn’s bloodlines are valuable for future breeding of Sumatran tigers in Australia
  

• This is Kaitlyn’s first litter of cubs

RAMALON PROFILE:

• Male Sumatran tiger
  

• 18 years old and weighs 120kg
  

• Ramalon arrived at Australia Zoo in April 2011 from Melbourne Zoo where he spent most of his life after being born at Taronga Zoo in 1994
  

• Last year, Ramalon was fertility tested in preparation for breeding with Kaitlyn and Maneki
  

• Ramalon is off display and does not have the same hands-on interaction with his handlers
  

• He has fathered cubs before and is considered a ‘proven sire’
